Actually, their conversion rate is 100 yen to the dollar. So the loss is reported at $1.245 billion.

Oh, I see. Good to know. Thanks.
Hi there.

Yeah, so they DID lose a bit for the qrt. I knew they would - it just shows that sales of the PSP & PS2 were covering for the losses of the PS3 last quarter.
Pretty sucky results all around (for entertainment division), reminds me of what MS used to post.

Wow, tough quarter/year for Sony Entertainment.

About a $280 million loss if I'm adding correctly. Q1: -$237 Million

The picture isn't as bleak if the currency is in yen though.
Q1: -29.2 Billion
Q2: -96.7 Billion
Q3: +12.9 Billion
Q4: -11.5 Billion
Which is only a loss of $115 Million.
Interesting to note that they exceeded their forecasts for PS2 and PSP, but still fell short of the reduced forecast for PS3s shipped(though not by much). I believe the early forecast of 10M PS3s shipped for the next fiscal year to actually be conservative by Sony for once.
Hmm interesting.
SONY plans on making a profit in FY08 in their games division.
I have a feeling that PS3 and PS2 sales will exceed their FY08 predication aswell ( i mean their inital FY07 PS2 prediction was waay under ( like 9 million vs. 13.7 million in reality ) ...
Looks preety good from SONY -- nothing amazing but nothing unexpected either ...
They did not have big loss Q4 so they will probably profit well this quarter.
Either way, it still totals to a $1.245 billion loss for the year.
