Forums - Sony - Sony's earnings statement is coming wednesday ( 14th)

Sony's Q1 2008 ( but Q42007 according to their fiscal year)  is coming out tomorow, and I am curious as to what the earnings release will say.  Will their profitability have improved?  Will Sony's overall profit margins improve?    Here is a link with the date of the earnings conference given:

It can't be more worse than last year?...Can it?

Can't wait!

Most likely another profit, based off of stronger than usual PSP sales (Thanks MHP2G (Japan)), PS3 software selling (since PS3 is being sold at a loss), and PS2 still selling, being sold at an ungodly amount of profit, plus the amount of software it still moves.

I think a profit of 300-400 million isn't out of the question.

Whatever their last statement's profits were  +7 or 8% is my prediction....

@ dallas

8% of what?

Their last net income was 113 million (Christmas 2007).

122mil for you then

PS2/PSP/PS3 projections and shipments to date will be the most interesting.

PS2/PSP shipments are still under the 'units manufactured' mantra though. PS3 is shipped to retail.

People are difficult to govern because they have too much knowledge.

should be more profit then the christmas quarter. Because more PS3's were sold at a loss over christmas. Plus loads more software (GTA4) was sold this quarter.

I think they will have a bigger profit than MS. 200mil-300mil Would be my assumption.

Reasons:
Lower advertising costs (Thanksgiving & Christmas have so many more advertisments than these months)

Less promotions and giveaways.

Lower production costs

Strong sales all round for the Playstation brand.

Anyone have that Profit/loss calender for Sony handy? I'd like to know how much loss they are looking at in 2007
