Beautifully Realized Stealth-Action For Gamers

Cockpit, Austin, Texas – May 13, 2008 – Gamecock Media Group today announced that ‘Velvet Assassin’ will be available on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows-based PC when it releases in fall 2008. Developed by Replay Studios, Velvet Assassin is a stealth-action game set in World War II and is inspired by real-life British secret agent Violette Szabo.

“This is a project we’ve been incredibly excited about from the start,” said Sascha Jungnickel, Creative Director at Replay Studios. “Velvet Assassin is going to be an amazing experience both in its visual style and gameplay, it will be awesome to get it to such a massive audience.”

Players assume the role of Violette Summer and head deep behind enemy lines with no support or official backing from the British Government. Violette risks her life fighting to defeat the German war machine one stealth mission at a time. Velvet Assassin combines lush, surreal visuals and a ground-breaking stealth combat system to deliver a gaming experience which is truly the first of its kin

A new stealth action game in a genre ruled by two games cant be bad right?

I think not i love stealth action games and this looks promising.

Another World War 2 game...

This just got added to my radar--though the characters look a little clay-ish to me.

@WoW: It's not a WWII game in the traditional sense of 'run around and shoot an army of Nazis' like we're used to. It seems to be Splinter Cell in the 1940s.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

No PS3 version?

Seems odd.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

The official website for the game says PC and Next Gen consoles - so go figure. Maybe as this release was for MS Day they agreed to not mention the PS3... or maybe MS has paid for a quick change from the current official status.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Looks like this was planned to be an exclusive for a long time now..

August 2007

Sabotage will blow up PCs and a next-gen console -- currently only one, though they aren't ready to say which -- in fall of next year.

Interesting. Not much made of it being exclusive at this point if true - and interesting the developer website is still banging on about developing games for next gen consoles, etc.

Given it looks to be strongly aligned to PC (the only constant in any info I can find) then going with 360 vs PS3 would be a no-brainer (which I happily say even as a PS3 owner).

Not sure how much money these guys have either so limiting development costs would seem prudent and if the initial development base was PC then gettting it to PS3 would add a resonable amount of cost/effort most likely.

Of course if its not exclusive other than by developer choice then I guess if sales are good they would be free to then decide whether to expand to PS3 or not (or conversely too I suppose, i.e. if sales weren't amazing they could move it to PS3 and try for some additional sales).

To be honest I don't really care as the game doesn't appeal to me (at least based on current info) and I guess I can get it on PC anyway if reviews are actually good.

So a stealth action game in WW2? I don't think the exact same thing has been done before, so it might be interesting.

The developer is a pretty small and new firm, so they might lack the resources and experience for porting to the PS3. They'll probably do it, or let someone do it if the game proves popular enough, though.

You do seem to show a lot of interest for someone who doesn't care...

It's another exclusive (limited or not) under the 360 belt. But this is expected, this was one of Microsofts strategies. Smaller PC developers can port to the 360 with very little effort/money compared to the previous and current consoles, giving 360 users more games.
