I thought the Wii only recognized 2GB or less SD cards. 2GB is more than enough though it is slow.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Most things can only recognize up to 2GB SD cards. 4GB are slightly different and only for super rare craaaaazy cameras.
@arsenalrc15, but how long does it take you to re-download Mario Kart 64?
A little off-topic:
Without any Virtual Console and Wiiware games the game and the channel saves occupy a large amount of given memory.
Recently, Mario Kart & Wiifit channel were added and soon Nintendo channel will be, as well.
If original and game channels come at this pace it seems like you'll have to delete even some of the channels!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I'm pretty sure WoG won't be out next week, I post on their forums about once a week and they haven't even committed to a date yet so I doubt it will be next week. Last I heard the best they've given is some time in August.
i say we are getting a USB based storage solution at e3
or they give us a firmware update to run games off the SD card
otherwise.... i lose my respect for the Wii

Once again I must lament/caution anyone considering Star Soldier R (I'm foolishly buying it if only to help support real Star Soldier games on WiiWare) that it is *not* a full game--it's a Time Attack mode with increments of 2 minutes and 5 minutes. You're really better off spending the money on Super Star Soldier on the VC...(but do buy one of them!)
As for the storage issue, since I believe you *cannot* move WiiWare titles to SD card at present, they will have to do something as the average consumer is not going to go in for the constant re-downloading of content (feels even less like owning the games than it already does).
| *~Onna76~* said: Again... GET A SD CARD!!! Copy stuff to it and copy the game to your WII from you SD Card which you'd like to play, how hard is that? A SD card of 2GB has over 19.000 blocks, Lost WInds counts 256 blocks, FF CC 287 blocks and I'm positive these are the biggest games so far... you do the match. |
We shouldn't have to go through the hassle of copying Channels and games back and forth from an SD card. I wouldn't complain at all if we could play the damn games directly from the SD card, but as is, it's backwards and stupid. It doesn't matter how much memory is on an SD card if we can't play games directly off the bloody thing. I'm about one game shy of needing to copy crap to the SD card to make room for other games, and from what I hear, it's a time wasting hassle. You shouldn't be just sitting there and saying, "the half-assed way Nintendo dealt with this memory thing is good enough for me." It's not good enough for anyone at all. Nintendo shouldn't have given us the shaft when it came to our Wii memory and storage.
Since all regular Wii games use the memory for saving files, it's only a matter of time before the flash memory is wiped out altogether from those and Wii-something Channels alone. The Virtual Console and Wii Ware are only making the memory storage a bigger problem that much faster. Being able to fit Lost Winds onto an SD card is pointless if you can't play the fucking game while it's stored there.

Oh that's just brilliant. If you can't even transfer Wii Ware games to an SD card, then the whole Wii Flash Memory Debacle is even worse than I had thought. Nuts to this. I'm holding out for Earthbound, then I'm probably not buying a single damn thing until they allow direct access to the SD card, or an external memory solution. Nintendo needs to do this if they want to be taken seriously with regular gamers at all.
