Forums - Microsoft - Rumor: Achievements to rollover to Xbox 720

On the topic of achievements, wouldn't it be a good idea to allow the image for each unlocked achievement be used as a gamertag picture?

Imagine the bragging rights of being able to use one of the extremely difficult achievements as your gamer image.

For some games that already happens like in Gears, but I agree....every ach. that is unlocked should be able to be used as a gamerpic

Sweetlamakid got banned so it's now sweetlamakidsenior

Hi all new to this site and commenting on topics, as you may well note my spelling is rubbish and same with grammer.

any way on topic I KNOW MICROSOFT WONT DO THIS, but since they first put out game scores points i belive they should give gamers a wards for buying so many games and replaying them to get huge gamepoints by allowing gamers to trade (spend) game points into money equallivant I.E. 1000 game points = 1 dollar worth of microsoft points for buying stuff on line (i mean if any one working with any microsoft people might sugest it if 1000 to $1 is to little they could just up it 10000 to $1 or some thing.) thins would give more meaning to harxd core gamers and fans alike a very small reward for all the hours they spend and money spent to support microsft by palying games not nessarily that great allong with faviourate ones.

as said just a sugestion. I would deffintly start focusing more on game score points and buying more games just to get more points for more discounts on even more games or downoald content instead of buying microsoft point cards unoften.

well thank god!

i think itd be shit to hit zero again

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

I would rather the new Xbox have "Xbox 720" achievements and "Xbox 360 achievements". That way, the people who are just getting their first Xbox console (or who had Xbox but skipped 360) wouldn't be left hopelessly in the dust.

Thats how I feel about it too

I think this is obvious, just like Sony will rollover trophies

I think that's what will happen.

Do you guys not realize there won't be an actual new Xbox for several years?

The Xbox that Ballmer mentioned is simply an XBOX 360 with NATAL integration.

it should definaty roll over and DLC and XBLA games should go too!! its really a no brainer.

Off Topic i really hope the 720 will be BC with xbox 360 and the origional xbox games. Hopefully hardware BC with atleast the 360 games (not sure if origional xbox games would work because of the problems with Nvidia) but BC would be really nice

Long Live SHIO!

well, it could work both ways. Yes they might get the current xbox owners but with Micrsofts ambition of getting first next generation the potential other owners from Nintendo and Sony wil surly feel gutted that they are already behind there friends by 40,000 GS

This is 2008 news, Achievements to be transfered to the next Xbox was said along with another feature called FOWARD-COMPATIBILITY.

Foward-Compatibility is basically, when you play old Xbox 360 games on the new console they will have better graphics, Frame rates etc.

Quote:

One of the most interesting features of the third Xbox besides being able to play all of your Xbox 360 titles, and transfer over your gamertag and gamerscore is forward-compatibility. Backwards-compatibility of course means that a game from the previous generation of systems works on the new systems. An example of this is PlayStation games working on PlayStation 2, or original Xbox games being playable on the Xbox 360 through emulation and software updates. This is something completely different however. Forward-compatibility means that games made for the Xbox 360 are made even better thanks to the features and hardware of the next Xbox system. This isn’t a side effect of textures being cleaner and upscaled resolution, this is a new animal completely. Imagine playing Gears of War 3 on your Xbox 360 it looks and plays good right? Well imagine that the year after it comes out you go out to buy the next Xbox and it looks even better, it plays even better. Features in the new controller are utilized with the game, the graphics do not only look sharper, but the draw distance is better, the speed is better, framerate, and there are even new features, perhaps even levels via DLC for the game on the third-generation Xbox. GoW3 is of course an example of what this could mean, past the forward-compatibility information, Xbox Evolved has not been given any other information about the next generation of Xbox.
