Snickers to become Marathon bars, again

The Marathon chocolate bar is set to make a return - 18 years after it was re-branded Snickers.

Makers Mars have now re-registered the name as a UK trademark as part of what looks likely to be a re-naming and retro revival of the sweet.

In 1990 the name Marathon was ditched in favor of the bars international brand name Snickers.
Cadbury started the craze for relaunching nostalgic sweets with its limited introduction of the Wispa. Mars has also announced plans to bring back another former favourite, Opal Fruits.
About bloody time! Now all I want is coconut boost.

wasn't that like the energy bar thing they did for a while

In th UK Snikers is a fairly new name, it was always called Marathon. Same bar, different name.

Is that just UK having the name change?!

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

I don't know, was it called Marathon anywhere else in the world before?

I don't remember it ever being called Marathon in the US. I'm 21 now and I can never remember it being anything else.

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

I actually though by reading the thread title they were going to give snickers bars to marathon runners. lol

anyways If there was a name change of a chocolate bar I liked, I would still buy it if they don't change anything they put in to make it

I swear everyone over 30 in the UK still calls it a marathon. As Jack dee says it is a thing of being british to call a snickers - marathon.

This is for uk only I think. I'm 43 and I don't remember snickers being called anything different.
BTW - snickers is the best selling chocolate bar - ever.

i live in the UK and am 16. and i can only ever remember the Snikers being called snickers. i have never even heard of the marathon bar
