Forums - Microsoft - New Banjo-Kazooie theory - Compatible with Wiimote!

Hell why not??

I already own a 360 w/ four remotes and a Wii and four wiimotes.. why the hell would I want to go a buy another X-mote just to play a game?

If they want to target the Wii demographic then why not create a game that uses the Wiimote... makes perfect sense. All they would have to do is create a 360 sensor bar. MS are the ones that mentioned that they want Wii users to "graduate" to the 360... well this would be the perfect way.

MS -  "Come play Banjo and don't forget to bring you're Wiimotes!!"  <-- ?? Why not ??

Not sure how the patent issues would work, and its way over my head, but if MS created their own sensor bar without breaking any patents then it should be legal..?? maybe?

Your thoughts?? And do we have any techno legal patent lawyers here who could comment??

Umm... is that legal? I kinda think not.

Then again if it is, the reason for this never happening before could be that consoles makers want owners to buy their controllers rather than those of the companies. =P

Ummm... because Nintendo would be all over them with 20 lawsuits? Unless they worked out some kind of deal, but isn't the point of the Newton to try to woo gamers away from buying Wiis in the first place? That seems counter-intuitive to me. Unless you think they'll try and get people to buy Wii-motes WITHOUT buying Wiis, which would fall completely flat.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Nintendo would have to agree to that, and they wouldn't. The end

Nah it wouldn't work, Nintendo would never agree to it.

Microsoft could bring out it's own wii-mote, with DUAL ANALOG STICKS! then it can claim to be innovative like Sony is......

Actually, I can't see how Nintendo could stop that. A sensor bar is nothing at all, just two uv lights. And if a 360 game registers a wiimote (they might need a doogle?) then that's not breaking any patent laws.

The advertising would be tricky as they couldn't use any Nintendo trademarks, owned names, etc. But it too could be done.

Fact is there are programs out now that allow you to use your wii-mote on PC - how is this different?

Edit: The challenge would be Nintendo wouldn't share any development kits/know-how.  MS would basically have to 'hack' the wii-mote programing and figure it out from scratch but that's not terribly hard either.

LOL...that would be amazing.

"We took this franchise from you Nintendo and now we take your controller"

What Parokki said. Microsoft would want you buying thier own controllers.

The difference is that MS is a competitor to Nintendo. Nintendo has to allow them to do this, they can sue over it.

I don't think the 360 has BLUETOOTH built in.
