What game is this? Anyway, you can't even compare it to Empire: Total War, which uses thousands of models at the same time.

GT5:p

And I realize that Total War has a million things going on, and for its kind of game, has the best graphics to date. But when you say something like “best graphics of 2008”, you are opening up yourself to all games.

How about for "most technically impressive"? Empire: Total War has thousands of units being played at the same time. It is much more impressive than GTA IV, since in GTA you have atmost a few dozens at the same time. If you count the stationary models(like buildings) GTA can reach a few hundreds, but that is still nowhere near the 4000  or 5000 visible in Total War.

Sure, I will agree it's the most technically impressive of 2008 :)

Not the best graphics for all genres of games this year, but best for an RTS by far. Extremely impressive.

Too bad I don't like the historical time period. Wow, if we'd have an Age of Empires set in the ancient world or medieval times with these graphics.

You wouldn't have as cool of battles then.

All total war games were amazing for their time. Shogun, Rome, Medieval. All of them are great. I love them so much.

I also played Shogun: Total War from the series, but I absolutely loved that game too! The colonization era is probably the only era that bests feudal japan in my opinion.

I have enjoyed the series myself. The only issue I might have with this latest incarnation, is I don't think they used the same tactics in real life that seen to be portrayed in these screens. that looks more like roman formations then something that would have been employed in colonial times.

THe game dynamic looks exactly the same as the original, the only thing that looks to be different is the setting.

in 2006, yes it was.
