Forums - Nintendo - Is the Wii/MARIO KART WORTH IT???

I don't want to answer the redundant thread question, I'm more interested in this statement:
"I want to get rid of the Wii/trade in for 360 games, The wife and child love it."

Does this mean they love their Wii and you love your 360? Perfect, everyone's happy.
Then you have absolutely no reason to sell the Wii if it's the preferred system of 2/3 members of your household.

In this case you should be glad that your wife doesn't consider selling your 360...

Or - more likely- did I get this sentence wrong and wife and child love the 360 more than the Wii, just like yourself? If so and if you really want to keep only one console - yes, then "get rid" of the Wii and don't ask us if Mario Kart is "worth" it.

The wording of the thread question and your post indicate that you've already decided before posting.

I get all my games for free, using ebay and gamestop.

No, that's not true. I actually profit from gaming. You don't have to ever trade in a console for games. Just buy expensive games off ebay for 15-20 dollars play them, and sell them to gamestop for 33 dollars store credit with which you can buy 2 older games.

I just bought the entire library of 360/PC exclusive games(plus f.e.a.r. cause I never knew it was on PS3...somehow) that are actually worth playing and spent less than 70 dollars.

That's:

Mass Effect

The Darkness

Orange Box

Lost Odyssey

Eternal Sonata

Condemned 1 and 2

Gears of War

F.E.A.R.

Dead Rising

Bioshock

Got 70 bucks? Spend it thrifily and all of those games will be yours. Screw trading in a Wii for that. Games are just discs, you can get them really cheap if you know how to go about it.

A system is forever. You can't get one of those cheap unless you're really lucky.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

MK Wii>>>MK 64= Super mario Kart>Mario Kart DS>>>Mario Kart Double Dash

Mario Kart Wii is the best console version of all time, includes online, more characters, more maps and it lots of fun. MK Wii = Best game on the Wii.

Like loadedstatement said: MK Wii is not perfect, but it's damn great. I'm playing it every day, online really is addictive.
When it comes down to the pure driving, I still can't tell if I prefer MK Wii or Double Dash... maybe DD, because I loved the drift system.

Currently playing: NSMB (Wii)

Waiting for: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii), The Last Story (Wii), Golden Sun (DS), Portal 2 (Wii? or OSX), Metroid: Other M (Wii),
... and of course Zelda (Wii)

These multiplayer split screen games are funtastic.
Mario cart on the N64 was good.
The PS2 had SSX tricky sking with split- screen another good party game.

Motion steering is a good factor it allows non-console players to play easily.
MK Wii is a good game especially for a group/family game - party etc.

The PS3 will be get Motorstorm Pacifica which is split screen and motion enabled as well - it's sort of the PS3 version of mario kart - I like this combination of splitscreen multiplayer and motion controlls .
The X360 has nothing like this - it's basic strength is single player FPS games or online FPS games - Keep the Wii and if you get another console get a PS3 at least it plays blu-ray movies.

First off-- Mario Kart Wii is by far the best Mario Kart I've ever played and simply one of the best games I've ever played.

Second-- how old are your kids? Have you shown them things like Boom Blox, Carnival Games, Super Mario Galaxy, Rayman: Raving Rabbids, Zack & Wiki and all the other bajillion games that are great for kids on the Wii?

Third-- I will almost never recommend someone selling their current console to get a few games.

I'm completely in agreement with twesterm here.  MKWii is my favorite MK of all.

And I personally don't understand all these people who buy a system for a little while, then trade it in.  Some people even buy a system, trade it in, buy it again later, trade it in again, buy it again,....  I'd say, just keep the system.  Even if you don't touch it for a year.  Down the line you may pick up on old games again, or there will be games coming out then that you want to play.  I never see that it's worth trading in a console for a few games on another.

And another piece that kinda boggles my mind, are you saying that your wife and child love the Wii?  Then why in the world would you even consider trading it in?  Even if you never play it, why are you even considering trading in something they love?  Seems pretty selfish to me to trade in something they really enjoy, for a few games for yourself.
