No ones competing with anyone since they're so innovative. I guess no one knows what to place that word on either. Pushing graphics is necessary when making a new console, so that's not exactly innovation. I know Sony doesn't only compete in the gaming market but elsewhere. I get that part.

It's a well-known fact that the PS3's main competition is the Foreman grill.

So this is how they plan on winning the console war?  Deny, deny, deny!

Sony's competition this generation around is their own PR and the constant bull they spout out. If Sony hadn't spewed out such rubbish about the PS3 and it's so called 'potential' which none of it has been lived up to, they wouldn't be in the situation they are now - Simple.

Potential.. in technology yes they have met their potential, sadly until coding for that system becomes
less bulky the PS3 has met it's end, the RAM on that system won't allow for much more.

The real issue though according to this article is sales potential.

Heh, don't be so sure they're fibbing, Sony isn't competeing with Nintendo, they seem to just be giving away
their sales potential.

They recieved a strong year over year - which is probably due to anticipation of their 'killer apps' and the price cuts, also
maybe even the Sony brand name... There was a time when people thought Sony and thought what we think
now of Walmart (Affordability) so they might have a good price point going on for them.

They are all competeing for disposable income but in that case they are competing with everything trying to get that money.
Such is the way of the entertainment industry.
But sadly their sales increase may be short lived unless they commit to some unforseeable changes.

I don't know that I quite agree with that.  Only the hardcore fans really know what Sony's PR says.  Everyone else just thinks of a crying baby .  Sony's problem is they didn't listen to the market.  Blu Ray may come in handy when the price is lower, but consumers didn't ask for Blu Ray and are leary to make the switch.  This is at least $150 of the PS3 price that consumers are forced to pay.  Sony is pushing HD to try and sell HDTVs, when the Wii shows that people want low priced entertainment.  Sony didn't fix their coding which has led to many delays.  All this leads to a product that simply put is overpriced in the eyes of many consumers.
