If they want good sales in Japan, then Christmas 08.
Otherwise best case 2009.
PS3 is getting better techprocess this year and i don`t see any reason, why Sony should wait for slim release if techprocess allows that.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.

yea, a release with FF XIII would be a very good move in my opinion - and yes the 3rd generation of PS3 heat sinks was shown off (the 40GB have the 2nd generation built-in)

External power brick would suck - The internal PSU is one of the good things they need to keep.
Imagine any DVD players amplifiers ,TV's and HI-Fi components all had external power bricks it would be a tangled mess of near molten plastic waiting to cause a disaster. ( like the X360 brick which caught on fire )

External brick PSU is a cheap piece of smouldering rubbish the Xbox360 can keep for themselves i would never buy a console with an external Brick PSU. !
