External power brick would suck - The internal PSU is one of the good things they need to keep.
Imagine any DVD players amplifiers ,TV's and HI-Fi components all had external power bricks it would be a tangled mess of near molten plastic waiting to cause a disaster. ( like the X360 brick which caught on fire )
External brick PSU is a cheap piece of smouldering rubbish the Xbox360 can keep for themselves i would never buy a console with an external Brick PSU. !
