Forums - Microsoft - Xbox 360 slim in 2009?

Perhaps it won't revolutionize the market, but it shouldn't hurt.
Given the even more cramped innards, it will need a metal case, though.

Something like that would make it heavy, but it would probably really help with heat ventilation.  I have a tube headphone amp where the case is the heatsink.  MS should look into doing the same thing, to help dissipate heat a little.

Also, what happened to Jasper?

They'd be better off starting design for next console....

Why is no one talking about my X-mote argument?

Whats there to say? There's been plenty of threads lately detailing whos copied what and from who.

So yes, MS are taking what Nintendo did and making one for the 360.

Why not discuss what Nintendo and Sony are doing with their online capabilities?

Xbox Live ripoffs? Check.

OT: A 360 slim is a good idea.  Only got my PS2 after it came out slimmed down.

Well duh. PS1 wasn't out when the NES/Gen was, so obviously they were first. But MS didnt do it with the XB, but now want to.

Why is no one talking about my X-mote argument?

because MS did a motion sensible pad way before the Wii mote was even in the mind of the nintendo R&D

there you are happy ??????

Sorry just dont beleive it. Why should I think that MS will go from a significant number of RROD events to a 360-slim the next year?

fall 2009 ?
you kidding.. ?
if M$ want increased sales it need to release it in Fall 2008, otherwise, it will be too late.

Well, making a slim takes time. It took Sony 4.5 years to get out the PS2 slim, and in fall 2009 the X360 is 4 years old.

Microsoft relies on AMD about this. AMD, who makes the ATI graphics cards in the X360, won't have a 45nm manufactoring process ready until 2009.

I really hope this next xbox can get rid of the RRoD and the many other problems i have seen first hand that the 360 has. But one thing MS really needs to do is get rid of the $60 a year to play online. I want to buy a 360 once they have another major price drop but the online fee is a big pain for me and my friends who don't plan to play online games all the time but just occasionally.

Here in the US a 13-month subscription to XboxLive Gold is $49.99 at Best Buy.  That averages out to $3.85 per month.  To me this seems really cheap even for occasional gaming.  I know someone who has a $120+ per month cable/broadband bill, but he complains about his <$4 per month XboxLive Gold membership.  Go figure.

If MS released a slimline 360 with Blu-ray drive, I would put our 2-year-old 360 in my son's room and buy the slimline.

Low-heat 360 gaming with HD-DVD and Blu-ray movie collection. That would be sweet.

Fall 08 or it IS too late..

& if SONY do a PS3 Slim/FF13 in Japan we may see a PSP like effect....except not taking out the wii obviously

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Hmmm... if this is true, they work out RRoD and it's not expensive, I'm getting a Xbox 360 Slim.

Let's be honest, the 360 is a big, noisy, ugly bastard.
