Well like I said before I don't believe the PS3 and Wii are director competitors , if you look at the kind of people Nintendo are trying to apeal to ( With games such as Wii-Fit and Wii-Play ) and the people Sony are tying to apeal to (With games such as Uncharted and GT5:P) I find that they aren't directly competing , of course there's situations where the Wii does atempt to control the hardcore market with Zelda , SSMB and SMG but in truth the hardcore market is captured by the PS3/360.

I think Nintendo will try to capitalise more in future on their opportunities in the hardcore market ( with alot of help from 3rd part developers ) but I think the hardware will be a big limitation , the mature/hardcore game traditionaly leans towards beautiful visuals and violent gameplay something which the PS3/360 offers more readily than the Wi.

Yes the Wii dominates , but it doesn't dominate all. I don't think Nintendo could release a Halo killer FPS neither do I think the could release a GT5 killer racer.

Why couldn't Nintendo release a killer FPS (metroid) or a great racing simulator. Nintendo doesn't need to make realistic games to be fun. Mario Kart and Metroid are great games in those genre's, just because they are not "realistic" doesn't make them a different type of game.

BTW, your starting to sound like you work for Sony PR.

Your post further supports my point , Realism is a quality that many gamers look for and appreciate in games often the maturer/hardcore gaming market . I'm not making any reference to sales performance , Nintendo could make a game that killed Halo & GT5 sales combined but that wouldn't detract anything from my main point. The type of gamer that is likely to pick up GT5 for the PS3 or Halo 4 for the XBOX 360 is unlikely to go for a Wii alternative as it'll offer a completley different experience. Nintendo is currenctly unable to apeal to this segment of the market and probably never will do , but they don't neccaserily need to they have profited more from this gen than Sony & Microsoft have from the respective consoles , but my point still remains that they aren't direct competitors.

If Sony stopped supporting the PS3 tommorow the XBOX 360 would likely benefit far more than the 360  Wii

In the same way the PS3 would benefit the most from the demise from of the 360

I don't really think either the PS3 or the 360 would benefit signifcantly form the demise of the Wii, it may even hurt the games market more. BTW , I don't care :)

You are talking about gamers like me. Gamers that look for realism in games and you totaly fail to pinpoint me but you are describing your preferences then actuall gamers.

A real gamer is thankful for the direction Nintendo has taken. It really wouldn mutter who did it just that someone took the step away from upgrading graphics only every gen and now were are evolving gaming in it self instead with a performance boost in graphics even if it´s not at the level of MS and Sony.

So stop being a fanboy and start coming with some real facts or non fanboy opinion not what you wish reality and gamers would be.

I consider myself a real gamer and i don't like what Nintendo has become.  Nintendo is in no way evolving gaming, motion controls have been around since forever.

Thank you for proving my point that you only base this on your opinion and not on gaming itself, a real gamer would apriciate the evolving of the industry and not be bothered with why your console of choice isn´t winning which is what you are doing.

Once again you fail to say how Nintendo is evolving gaming, they made the wii-mote and the fact that you consider that evolving is laughable.  I also don't care what console sells the most, i play the games i like and they just happen to not be on the wii.  The last good game made by Nintendo is over 10years old.

We’re not competing with Microsoft or Nintendo.

Yes, you are. PS3 is a gaming system. Microsoft and Nintendo also have gaming systems. That means they are also considered as competition.

The reason why is because the PS3 is still behind there "gaming" competition. When you don't consider them as competition your are not behind your competition.

Sony is tricking consumers to have faith in there product. They are not lying, they just saying half of the truth.

Gamers are like: Huh!? Not competing with other gaming systems? What does it offer more than just gaming? It's clearly an attempt to push Blu-ray.

I wonder when advertisements like: 1 play music, 2 play movies, 3 play games. Three main functions that's were the 3 of the Playstation 3 is standing for.
