Correction:

Miyamoto "wanted" a mature FPS Zelda.

This isn't really surprising, considering that Miyamoto is the one who told Retro to make Metroid a FPS.

... and (to expand upon super_etecoon's post) Metroid Prime is, essentially, a first person Zelda game

i think a more mature zeld would be interesting, it needs something different.

Well Miyamoto said it and theres the link's crossbow training so there'll be Zelda FPS in development. For me, I'll support this including the mature adult pit in kid icarus which is confirmed BTW. Nintendo needs matured games for their franchise.

"Miyamoto also touches upon the development of the Wii Zapper in the interview and why he chose a Zelda spin-off to launch the peripheral.

After vetoing Mario and
Animal Crossing as potential candidates, Miyamoto said: "We figured that Link was the logical choice."

Logical choice my ass, I'd much rather have the opportunity to shoot Mr. Resetti and Lyle than Zelda enemies. Teach that damn weasel to pester me every Saturday. Then you could have had DS connectivity as a bonus. Upload your town's residents from Wild World, and shoot them all in the face with a slingshot or what not. =P

Although I agree that Nintendo could use some more mature themed franchises, I really don't think it would be a good idea to take most of their franchises and move them in that direction ... Zelda is (in essence) a fairy tale, and it seems wrong to have a fairy tale where the hero decides to head to the strip club to pick up some whores before he goes of and graphically kills his enemies.

Where Nintendo has moved in the right direction is getting developers (like Retro, Monolith and Silicone Knights) to produce more mature games (like Metroid Prime, Disaster: Day of Crisis, and Eternal Darkness) for them.

No, there isn't and is highly unlike to ever being produced.
Read the orginal interview.

^ Well they want to work on it though. Theres a possibilty that it can be done on Link's Crossbow Training and Nintendo REALLY REALLY NEEDS a mature game on their franchise.

I dont mind Link to be the sacrifice.

@HappySquirrel
that was quite an exaggeration you made there
zelda going in a mature direction does not necessarily make it a GTA clone
a good adventure story always starts off lightly but becomes more serious later
so why not the same with Zelda games? since the peace of the world is at stake every game, why not make it feel like a desperate fight against huge odds, rather than an adventure puzzle game, and elaborate a bit on the story?
also character development is a mature touch.why not have that?
i really thought TP was a step forward and they should continue in that direction
