Forums - General - Confessions: I traded my Wii for an Xbox 360(don't panic)

As most of you know, I'm considered a premier Nintendo fanboy, and with that said, I do hate Microsoft severely. I feel they run a shoddy sham of a company and I piss on Windows and Gates while I'm at it.

That's why I felt so bad when the opportunity arose to straightup trade my Wii for an Xbox 360. I knew I had to take it, for several reasons:

A. The 360 is worth 350 dollars, the Wii is worth 250. If that is the only factor then it would appear I was getting a deal. Especially since the 360 comes with the reciept(bought last November, so 3 year rrod protection) and the packaging. It's also owned by someone I know(my brother, who also prefers the Wii but mistakenly bought the hot white box instead) and kept in prestine condition. In other words, misuse is not a factor.

B. This will allow me to repurchase a Wii at a later date, adding 2 Wii console sales to that 100 million mark, personally.

C. I've beaten just about every game on the Wii over and over again, and now have been playing my PS2 for a LONG time, I took a break and played Kart, but after burning through the content I went back to Persona 3, which is fantastic, btw.

D. The Xbox 360 has a wide back-library of games I've never played, and that aren't on my PS3, and some good ones coming out real soon, as well as some must play games coming up, namely Ninja Gaiden 2. I made a list:

The Darkness

Halo 3 - Never did finish the single player fight

Mass Effect

Eternal Sonata

Gears of War

Bioshock(about 10 hours in atm)

F.E.A.R.

Lost Odyssey

Condemned 1 and 2

Ninja Gaiden 2

Too Human

Fable 2

Gears 2

Fallout 3

E. I made my brother and his wife very happy, because they want to play my copy of Guitar Hero 3 that I gave them with the Wii(I got orange box and a couple other games, they got my gems collection, the same one you have by your wii). She wants Wii fit very badly, and so does he. They also love Mario Kart.

So, before you go off on me for being a Nintendo traitor, know this:

The Wii is the best console of this gen, imo. This comes from someone who doesn't own a Wii anymore, and who in fact owns an Xbox 360 and PS3. I feel it's dominant in quality games at the high end of the spectrum.

However, before I am a Nintendo fanboy, I am a gamer. I'm not stupid enough to let my Nintendo fanboyism talk me into playing games I've played a million times, over and over, when I could be playing a whole crapload of AAA fantastic games I've never got the chance to play before, just so I can live up to some invisible assumption that "Zenfoldor is a Nintendo man and spits on your consoles from his mountain."

I don't have a PC that will run those games. They ain't on the PS3 yet.

Assassin's Creed sucks, so I still won't be playing it on PS3, 360, PS3, DS, or anything, it's terrible imo, screw that game.

So, until further notice, I'm a PS360 man, for as long as I can stand it. Probably around christmas time, I'll be packing up and making the hike to gayspot and picking up a Wii from the Retard Zelot NPC that works there.

I'm well aware this move bucks the usual conventions and ideas you people tend to have about fanboys. However, in the end, I am, and always was a grown-ass-man who has been gaming on all consoles available since atari was introduced. The Wii will be fine without me until November, and by that time, it'll have acrued a nice little back-library of games for me to play, like Tales of Symphonia 2, and hopefully Fragile and Icarus.

In the meantime, any recommendations besides my obviously thoroughly researched list?

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Congrats on getting your 360! (Wii60 owner here :) )

Well like you said Ninja Gaiden II is coming out in the near future. DMC4 is also pretty good if you haven't tried that out yet.

The obvious game if you're interested in that type of game is GTAIV (I just picked up my copy and I'm enjoying in between finishing playing Lost Odyssey :) )

It's not as good as Lost Odyssey (IMO), but you might want to give Blue Dragon a try. (You may be able to pick it up for cheap, too!)

If you don't have it yet, COD4 is of course a great FPS.

I'm not sure if you've played the older ones(PS2 Katamari Damacy games), but even if you haven't Beautiful Katamari is a really fun game definitely worth checking out.

Oh and you may want to post this in the MS forum to get more suggestions from other 360 owners.

This thread might also help you out too :)

starcraft: "I and every PS3 fanboy alive are waiting for Versus more than FFXIII.
Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Skeeuk: "playstation 3 is the ultimate in gaming acceleration"

huh, I did the opposite.

I traded my first 360 for a wii.

But now I have them both and a PS3

Definitely not a bad idea. I'm personally going with a "buy new PC, play 360/PS3 at a friend's place" strategy, but yours isn't half bad either. =P

You almost sounded like you regret your trade.

What the hell is wrong with you? First the positive GTA IV review and now this? You're starting to become shockingly unbiased and I don't like it.

I don't know what your stance is on paying for Xbox Live, but I would like to recommend it as it's $40 well spent by me every year. Some of the games on your list have very good online and it would be a shame to miss out.

Here's a few gems you don't have on your list:

Virtua Fighter 5 Online-I don't know how you'd feel about this being as you're a Tekken man, but VF has really been fine tuned to a perfect 3D fighting engine and finally another great character by the name of El Blaze has been created.

Burnout Paradise-Absolute bliss of an arcade racer. It adds all the great speed of F-Zero and WipEout with the traffic conditions of Crazy Taxi and the open world goodness of GTA IV all at a blistering 60 FPS at all times.

Devil May Cry 4-I haven't played this myself yet but judging from the first and third I'm sure it's pretty good quality. Seeing as how you recommended yourself Ninja Gaiden 2 I figured you might enjoy this.

Dead Rising-If you have any love for zombies and enjoyed the movie Dawn of the Dead you'll just fall in love with this game. The amount of zombies on screen at once is staggering, and really makes the game for you. So does putting on a Mega Man suit and popping Servbot heads on zombies so they can't see. Good times.

Also depending on how thoroughly you've gone through the original Xbox library, you might want to give one or two titles a shot, because many have aged very well.

Tag: Became a freaking mod and a complete douche, coincidentally, at the same time.

Crackdown and Dead Rising are both good games. If you don't like Crackdown just play the Halo 3 beta. All kidding aside they are both really fun games.

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

You will not be sad with your purchase.

So many games to play, your eyes will bleed.

You're not a Nintendo traitor for trading your Wii for a 360... you're a Nintendo traitor for having a PS3 to begin with!

Hah, j/k. The more games you have, the better

Why would anyone panic?
