Forums - Microsoft - RUMOR - MS showing off Wiimote-like controller next week, alongside Banjo 3

Looking forward to it, to see if they can actually do something original and useful. Nintendo does hold SOME patents relating to the motion controller as well, so that could get... legal.

The other question is will the existing 360 crowd embrace something like this - if not, it won't sell to existing 360 owners. Which won't help its sales at all.

Since I love Banjo-Kazooie so much, I wish they wouldn't use them as a guinea pig.................oh well. I really wanted to see if Rare could bring out another fantastic game again, after so long.

You could get Banjo + Xmote and if its an AAA game I think everyone will be pleased.

Actually as a side note: This is very important for Star Wars: Force unleashed! If they include it in that game it could definately swing it in the Xboxes favour vs the PS3. Hell if they do it better it may even convert a few die hard Star Wars fans from the Wii to the Xbox360 for this game.

Maybe I assumed something incorrectly. I was assuming that since they were showing off the x-mote, they would have a game, or a demo of one, to show alongside it. And since they are showing off BK3 at the same time, I thought that the x-mote would play a large part in that game (ie. the main form of control). That's what I meant (I hope I'm wrong).

whether the xmote bombs or not, it'll give them a head start over sony for the next generation of console.

First you'll know what to expect of the 720.
Then it will train MS dev teams to program for it...
Lastly, fanboys won't resort to buying a Wii so it is a good move. (even if they are few that act like this).

hum,

if it is true, this is show time for MS:

Gears of War today, Fable2/BK3/X-mote next week

Time to Work !

Just a hypothetical question, will people be upset if MS opens their cheque book and buys EVERY single decent 3rd party Wii game so they all come out on the 360.

:)

I'd make more sense for MS to release a IR-enabled controller than some kind of motion-sensing one, what with their massive heap of FPS games. Right?

They can make the game and the Xmote like WIIplay ..
or like Mario Kart ..
if they do it like WiiPlay I think it will sell more than 3 million

Why buy them?  If the X-mote is a big enough success (and if they bundle with the right games it will be) then it will make sense for all the third parties begrudgingly accepting that they'll have to design games ground up for the Wii to port them to the Xbox 360.

There are not that many decent 3rd party Wii games that wouln't go multi-platform anyways, if the control scheme worked as well on the 360 as the Wii.

Will people be upset if MS opens their cheque book and bys EVERY peice of Wii shovelware game so they all come out on the 360?

I have a hard time seeing the hardcore crowd of the 360 accepting waggle in games. I also have a hard time seeing the casual crowd buying a 360 over a Wii. You never know, it just take a few good titles to win people over.

All 3 manufacturers will incorporate motion controls in their next generation. It will be interesting to see how MS does trying to add it mid-generation.
