I know a lot of folks enjoy watching the console wars and we would never underestimate our competition. But answer to your question specifically, didn’t Sony promise all of this last year including Home as well? [1] We have been fighting Sony’s promises from the day we entered the market and if you remember at that time it was all about PS2 being an online cybercity with partner announcements from the likes of RealNetworks and AOL. Then three years ago at E3 they showed what PS3 games would supposedly look like with the Killzone 2 video [2], that we are now learning will ship four years later. That means that we [3] will have shipped Gears of War and Gears of War 2 before they can even get Killzone out the door. Think back to GDC 2007 when Sony promised to leap ahead in online with the Sony Home [4] unveil. Here we are two years later and multiple delays for a product that has appears to have little to no buzz. Where are the achievements? The friends list integration across all games? Where is the long-promised video store? [5] Where are all the other products using and networking with their CELL chip? How come Blu-ray did not result in better games? What happened with Sixaxis and rumble? Where is the  complete 1800p game library [6] we were promised? If Blu-ray as they said would be such a catalyst to PS3 console sales, then why have PS3 sales over the past couple months not seen any lift since the format victory? [7]

The reality is that Xbox 360 is leading this generation with a larger installed base, more than 2xs the games library, the most exclusives along with the leading online service and community. While we have not yet announced all of our plans for the full year, I am confident that we will extend our lead over the PS3 in 2008. Today Xbox 360 has a 5-million-unit console sales lead on a global basis based on most recently public reported data from both companies. This includes more than double the installed base in the US according to actual NPD sell-through and over a 1-million-unit lead across Europe also based on reported sell-through from Chart Track and GfK. [8]

The days of Sony snowing the consumers [9]and the press are over, I think the pressure is now really on them more than ever to deliver on all of these promises.

 1. Meaning that PS3 is outselling 360 BEFORE the mentioned games have come out instead of after.  Prepare for the gap to increase.  (did they actually "promise" "all" that?  bullshit)

2.  There's a thread about this now, KZ2 matches the vid in a lot of ways right now, 9 months before it's released.  Subsequent games will look even better.  Fail, MS douche.

3.  Not YOU, Epic.  And UTIII looked and ran better on PS3 than Gears did on 360, according to Mark Rein.  So there's no Sony/PS3 deficiency here, except the one Greenberg is pulling out of his ass.

4.  Depends what you mean by 'ahead in online'.  Certainly, Home is unlike anything Live offers.  Certainly, it's been delayed.  Spin fails though.

5.  How are delays such an issue?  Oh right, the MS way is to say, "HDMI doesn't matter" "1080p doesn't matter" right up until you see that  it does matter and your FUD sucks and you put HDMI in.  On the other hand, HD-DVD mattered, and then suddenly didn't, when it got fucking dropped by Blu-Ray.  (Nice $200 purchases, guys.)

6.  That's not what was promised.  Spin, FUD, all who think it's a good point are idiots.

7.  They have.  Not enough for you MS?  Just wait, the trend will not be reversed and everyone knows it.

8. Larger installed based bullshit: yeah, because of a headstart.  You've been outsold over the same period, and the trend will not stop.  You'll ditch 360 and put out another console (expensive as hell with all the extras you charge for while CALLING your overheating shit cheaper) for your fans to buy and you'll claim victory, but PS3 sales lifetime will be much higher and generate more income than 360 sales.

1. they did promise most of it. (I don't think they would've said "our new game is coming out in 4 years. Pre-order now!")

2. Actually, it really, really doesn't. KZL2 looks looked like a damned cgi movie when they promised it. Now, it looks barely better than Resistance 2 (which looks awesome, but is no where near movie quality)

3. well, GeOW came out 1 1/2 years earlier............ So...... (and I think I read somewhere that the 360 version would have improved visuals than the ps3 version)

5.It didn't matter, or else they would've incorperated the HD-players into the consoles. They just wanted to try and slow down blu-ray until digital distribution starts (it failed in case you didn't know.... I think you knew). And nothing you just said mattered (or won't for 4 or so years)

6. Not an important point. (although I think they did promise it)

7. There has been a lift, but I think the xbox still has a chance to re-bound, like the ps3 has. (After all, ps3 fanboys were bitching about it and that it would happen.) And the ps3 still has a while to go... I think once the xbox gets into a mass market price range, it's sales will do alot better. (and the ps3 will still be too high)

8. The ps3 was outsold for most of it's first year..... So it's not all spin. RRoD is a problem, but MS is trying to fix it, so I don't think they are purposly snowing their customers with false promises...... unlike a certain other hardware maker... RRoD is 20 times as worse though. (and is about the biggest cheapshot a fanboy can make, it also means you are full of...... and can't make a decent arguement. Heres an example (it's only an example)

sony fanboy:"The ps3 is l33T it has only good games."

Guy:"how do you explain untold legends?"

Sony fanboy:" well the 360 gets RRoD HAHAHAH!!!"

Except, on promises. Where do you guys get off thinking that promises are some kind of point for the 360 when 1, a lot of the time the promises weren't as they are being remembered now, and 2, MS flip-flopping denials are worse than Sony telling what it intends to do?

Mentioning RRoD a cheapshot? Oh, I get it, as long as MS didn't PROMISE a solid console, RRoD is not a negative. Only PROMISES matter. It's like a political campaign: pick a new theme and keep harping on it. Typical propaganda.

And, I also visit other threads, though what gets me riled enough to bother to post a lot of the time is MS fud. As I've mentioned before I like Nintendo and own some stock in the company. MS Fud just pisses me off.

EDIT: Implication with the Nintendo stuff being: if MS company FUD/fanboy bullshit were targetted at Nintendo, I'd care about that, too.  It just isn't.  Wii60 as an anti-PS3 tool, and all that.  And when I defended Ninty someone might come say I was a "true believer" of Nintendo maybe.  And I'd say, nah, MS stuff is just usually bullshit, especially their hardware and words.

Actually sony's promises were huge ,especially in the beginning. You could say they have flip-flopped (about what I do not know, but i think you are gonna say HD-DVD) but, you could also say that sony has made the hugest flip-flop of all time this gen.... RUMBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a cheapshot when people use it when they have no (good) arguement. I think your aguement is good though. The thing is, people who have a 360 get mad because they always have the fear that the console they like will die on them.... and people keep throwing it in their faces...
