Well, I beat it, anyway. Lancers kept dieing before they could even get a shot (which misses 99% of the time >_>), so I just filled the trenches with shocks and snipers and got some scouts to climb the ladders after Welkies dealt with the turrets.
Selvaria thought it'd be smart to guard the last ladder, so I ended up having to make a barrier (with my tank) to block her shots while Alicia 'naded the radiator :P

 

I didn't even know you could climb on that thing to take the radiators out... did it the old fashioned way staying a safe distance away from the Selvaria.

Nah, you just climb up and pop a grenade right in there. I've never tried the other way, but I'm guessing it's not any easier :P

So is Chapter 7 the hardest part of the game? Seems to be the one that gives people the most trouble.

That's becouse they are before second battle of chapter 8 :)

It's not really neccissary.

I mean i got through most of the game without using skirmishes much at all and with using each character in my team once per turn.

I gotta get back to finishing this game.  Got sidetracked with another project though.

Chapter 7 is hard. The key it to use the Batomys to shield you from Selvaria attacks. And it isn't important to take out all of them. Just two or three.

No, i'm holding off on that till later.  Making wrestlers in "Fire Pro Wrestling".  I used to be a big wrestling fan when i was a kid, and the game basically lets you make any wrestler you want with tons of moves and the like... and room for like 500+ wrestlers aside from the 200+ already in the game. (Though they are mostly japanese wreslters.)

You can adjust Ai and stuff so they wrestle just how they did back in the day.

I have way too much fun making all the characters i remember and watching them wrestle each other.

I must of put hundreds of hours into that game and i don't even know how to play it.
