I don't find Edy hot. She's too young looking for me (I don't remember her age), and her voice is annoying. Marina for me :) Jane and Alicia too.
My favorite character is Vyse. I loved that dude in Skies, and he's my 'got get them!' guy.
Damn! I don't know if I'm just growing out of the JRPG thing, but would people agree with the game's story / characters being pretty weak? Up to chapter 17, sometimes I just wanna stab Welkin in the face... so tired of these cliched types!
Anyway, onto the gameplay! I use very few characters, besides my mains (Alicia / Rosie / Largo / Vyse / Aika). This will probably change once I beat the game (hard difficulty?), but so far the game is easy enough - A-ranked most levels without trouble the first time through (other maps, like that double tank pincer, obviously had to be redone). Surprisingly I had no trouble with Chapter 7 - just had to load once or twice, mainly because the enemy backup unexpectedly popped on top of half my troops...
So far I probably use Alicia the most. I had a ton of fun raping Selvaria with a Cautioned / Awakened Alicia. It's like godmode, I pretty much cleared out the entire map with her. Fun stuff! I want to finish the game, but have a ton of school work to do... hell, I should get off this site now.
I'm sure this has been asked plenty before, but do more people use the Japanese or English voices? I always leave games on Japanese when there's the option, maybe I'll change to English for my second playthrough (or as long as I can stand it).

I loved the game's story and characters. It's only Welkin's voice I don't really like. And the baddies look and talk waaaaay cooler than the Good guys i.e
Maximillian+Triumviri>>>>>>>>Gallian Militia Squad 7
OT, I think shocktroopers should have been the ones to have double movement as one of their potentials. They'd have become on par if not more useful than scouts with a single order of "awaken potential".
***SPOILERS BELOW*****
Alicia is just ridiculous though. I guess it's the power of a valkyrur. I think Selvaria should've won their battle as she is much more experienced at using the lance and shield and just more formidable in battle. She's a scout with a better machinegun than shocks and some crazy evasion.
I guess if Alicia lost that fight, *mysterious body* would have activated lol
"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)
"WAR is a racket. It always has been.
It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler
Yeah, I think I like the enemy characters way more. Jaeger and Selveria > Welkin and Alicia. Rosie and Largo are meh. Faldio and Varrot are cool, though. I really hate how the game treats war like it's child's play, though. The cutscenes in particular - someone next to them gets shot, and instead of taking cover, they just sit there. Right. Or Welkin running toward that gigantic tank... *facepalm*
I agree it kinda sucks Selvaria kinda got owned by Alicia (why was she more powerful?). I didn't really like the cutscene, either... maybe it's due to the game budget, I dunno. I just don't like the way the "power levels" are displayed here. I found the calm Alicia fighting Selvaria with no effort thing kinda lame.
By the way, the flamethrower you get from Rosie's mission (I think?) is nuts. Love being able to 1-shot clusters of crouched enemies!

The story is pretty boring for the most part; it doesn't get interesting until maybe more than halfway through the game, but it still remains pretty sort of weak. I had a hard time trying to finish this because of that, and the way the story/dialogue is told didn't help, you know those character's head just moving around missing the lip synchs. Characters were great imo. Gameplay is where the game shines.
epicurean said: I need help. I must be terrible...I can't get by the first mission on chapter 8. Its the one where its just Welkin and Alicia. Its really easy until I come around the corner and there is an ace shocktrooper. He mows me down no matter what I try. If I immideatly try and shoot him, he kills me on the retaliation fire. If I run to the grass and crouch, he still kills me. If I just make a run for it, he still mows me down. I just played it over 10 times and died everytime on that spot. I could only find one game guide, and it says to try and use grenades, but I can't even get that close before biting it. HELP!!! (or tell me where I can go for help...) |
It doesn't look like anyone answered you, so I'll just post how I beat that stage.
The shocktrooper and the scout in the top left corner of the map can be bypassed by a secret path if you stick to the right. Stop both alecia and welkin right before the corner, and then on your next turn just run down the path (right behind the grass, so just stick to the right most wall) and behind both the shocktrooper and the scout. You might get shot at, but it shouldn't damage you to much.
If you want, continue towards the end of the map. If you want, you can turn around and take out both from behind with either guns or grenades. Since you are coming from behind they don't evade as well and should be fairly simple.
Trophies - one word keeping me from picking up this game.

so sad. Now, I could agree it might you delay buying it for another great game that does have trophies, but to never buy it because it doesn't have trohpies is just sad.
