I am new to the Fable series, could someone explain it to me a little bit
The RPGs I have played are FF X, X-2, XII, SO 3, KH 1 + 2 so how does this compare to those in terms of gameplay

The rpgs you played are Jrpgs. Fable is a WRPG. Go buy a WRPG such as morrowind or baldur's gate, then we can compare.

Could you not explain the differences between jRPGs and wRPGs? Anyway, I thought Fable was quite a unique game

A Jrpg means Japanese Rpg. This means the style of the game is similar to most japanese rpgs, and most of the time comes from japan. Jrpgs are usually more story centric, and linear( having one main quest, and one ending) while wrpgs(western) are more genuine to the definiton of a rpg. Wrpgs usually have more of a free roaming feel to them, have many things to do besides the main quest, and don't have predetermined characters, and stories. You usually choose roles more in western rpgs. There are many more differences, but those are the basic ones.

edit: ALso jrpgs are mostly turnbased while wrpgs are usually action or a mix of both action and turns.

What I love is the idea that if you trade in a town you help it's economy and coming back years later will find it to be large and prosperous, but that if you kill enough of it's residents a town will disappear.

Fable 2 will not be as good as Final Fantasy 13.

Fable on XBox was a terrible game.

Was Fable overhyped? Yes....Was it terrible? No.

But back to the topic at hand, this is one of my most anticipated games this year but it has some tough competition if it wants the title of RPG of the year.

In terms of combat it is an action-rpg.  I guess it would come closest to KH (though more grumsoum (spelling)).

They are re-doing the combat system for Fable 2 and I think it looks very interesting.  The game (Well the first one) was big on side-quests (whereas JRPG's in general are not).

Is Molyneux producer on this? If he is, I might check it out to see if he's (literally and figuratively) got his game back!

Fable 2 is unlikely to be as linear as most JRPG's are.  Also, the combat won't be turn-based it will be real time.  Fable was largely unique, and the sequel is looking to do some things that are rare nowadays such as co-op (IN AN RPG!!!), an artificial intelligence dog that accompanies you and acts as a guide, defender and companion, interaction with XBLA games to earn money, and a world that is meant to be VERY responsive to your actions over time.

stop hyping this game as the rpg of the yr. it sure looks great but u gotta wait for reviews and best rpg of the yr prizes. calling it the best rpg of theyr right now is supid, its not event out yet.

For those new to the Fable series and want to know what its about, check out this great Gamespot review (back in the good days when the reviews were done by Greg Kasavin) of Fable 1:

Im also new to the series, but after seeing this, I cant wait for Fable 2! Its sort of like Sims + Oblivion + Neverwinter Nights!

@ eagle eyes: thanks

Also, would you recomend that I play the original to get a better idea about 2? cause I can just borrow it off a friend to get an idea of the gameplay
what struck me (I have watched the E3 presentation from last year) is that it does seem more like living, than actually a quest? The review does kind of agree with this, though there is a main story quest.
it kind of seems like GTA open world-ness (old ones) with a huge amount of side quests and little things to find.
eagle eyes makes the comparison with oblivion, and game which I did not enjoy, mostly because I spent like a day walking to get to where I was meant to be, and I did not like the combat, is found that just having 1 button to attack and 1 for magic was pretty rubbish, but Fable seems to have a better combat system than that, and all the little extras did seem really cool in the review
