Forums - Sony - Little Big Planet: Why the hype?

Because it's a Nintendo game made by Sony.

Around the Network

the most appealing side of this game to me is, that you can build up levels together with your friends(4 player max is what I heard) online and offline - that will be awesome to just create wacky stages and try new things together with friends :)

I'm sure it will make 1 million, there seems to be little else that is original coming to PS3.

Although this game looks promising and is BEAUTIFUL(gorgeous IMO).
This game's "greatness" is depending on user content.

I don't think this game deserves the glory to be called "A Nintendo game made by Sony" Nintendo is "far above that."

Ratchet & Clank deserves better sales than this game IMO

It looks neat and all but, I will be suprised if it outsell's Carnival games for Nintendo Wii.

If it is in Motorstorm's territory (saleswise 3.5 million) then I would be shocked.

^^^^

BTW, If that was trolling, I would like a warning b4 I get banned, because I was giving my honest input.

Sometimes I don't know what trolling is because of the inconsistancy of mods, etc.

Almost everyone who's seen the trailers is hyped about the game. It's coming out in the holiday season and it's going to be advertised like hell...
I think I will be bold and say this game will sell 750k in its first week and 2m+ by the end of the year... You can't underestimate party games in the holidays season...

PSN ID: T_Gears

End of 2009 ltd sales:

Wii = 67-68m

X360 = 38-39m

PS3 = 34-35m

Prediction: The PS3 will surpass the 360 on weekly sales after it drops to $299 on all regular weeks (no big releases).

^^^ those are high numbers but, I wouldn't say it couldn't happen.

It looks Sweet.
The only game I've seen so far that has made me think I want a PS3 for

 I'm going to say they are average (as much chance of being bigger as smaller). That's because of the thousands and thousands of posts i see every time new ino on this game comes out that say "This is the game that will make me buy a PS3" and "OMG this is frigging amazing"..... And i fully agree...

it's an obstacle course racer, where you can build your own course.

Um...no it's not.

@everyone: A lot of you are really missing the point of LBP. It's a basically a tool to allow you to create whatever you want. You can create a racer, like kingofwale said, or you can create some other form of playstyle. Technically, the "level" you build could have no objective at all. It could just be a place to roam around and mess with stuff. Or it could have a "boss" that you must defeat, one that you could create yourself. Or it could involve collecting as much sponge as possible. Or anything else that you could think of. The entire point is to allow you to do what you want.

It is the ultimate level editor, with a very streamlined and easy to use control scheme.

The only common characteristic between everybody's levels will be that they are 2.5D, and that you traverse them primarily by running and jumping.

Everyone should watch this video to get a basic idea of what LBP is all about:

I wouldn't say ultimate level creator. I've seen ones on PC that can be used to make just about any genre of game you want.

There are far more flexible editors out there, yes. However, none come in such an easy to use and intuitive package as LBP. LBP is all about bringing game design to the masses, in a cutesy, fun way.

Once again, I disagree. I've seen editors that are ridiculiously easy to use with an easier interface to decide everything.

The only real big differences is this one seems a little more limiting them most, which is good to reign some people in... and it's the first one to hit consoles.
