This is a direct quote from a lesson i have to do regarding evolution vs creation for school.   

"The fact remains that there is much in the world and in nature that suggest that evolution is a reality.  If anyone wants proof of that leave a bag of garbage sealed in a garbage can in the hot sun for a couple of weeks.  When you take the lid off there will be thousands of maggots"

there you have it....  maggots evolved from garbage proving that evolution is real. 

that is a really, extremely flawed textbook.

I can't help but wonder how anyone with even basic knowledge about the theory of evolution could come up with something like that. Honestly sounds like a strawman from someone trying to discredit it more than anything else. That, or you seriously misheard something.

That is a direct quote from text, that i reread about 15 times (it is in front of me) before i was ready to admit that is what it really said. The lines before and after that quote are pro evolution and anti creationism, so its definately supposed to be supporting it.
The whole lesson suffers from serious deficiencies of logic for both sides of the subject. That line just happened to be the most outrageous in a series of ludicrous fallacies.

so do you live in the 1800s, or is your book just from there? And what kind of school actually has an "evolution vs creation" course?
