I stopped half way threw back in JUNe.

Less than 15% complete coming from a 1st day purchase.

Initially fun to wander around and play, do open world activities, explore, etc. but I found the meat of the game itself (missions) to be chore-like, and constantly being interrupted by friends to go drinking, shoot pool, bowl, watch bad vaudeville shows, go on dates and other repetitive tasks made the job of progressing through this game excruciating.

It fixed some of my former gripes with the series (below average visuals with every iteration, slightly less clunky controls), but the basic GTA formula has not changed since GTAIII. It just does a better job of creating and maintaining the illusion of being in Liberty City.

If you didn't like it then, nothing should change unless you found the story and characters interesting enough to keep playing.

If I ever hunker down and finish this game, it will be a personal first with any GTA game I own.

I would still be loving it if mercs 2 had not come out its consuming all my gaming time
