Forums - Sony - New rpg for ps3?

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=291968

New PS3 JRPG scheduled for September '08 release
Development is about 70% done atm

Collaboration between Idea Factory, Gust, Bandai-Namco, Capcom, Nippon Ichi, and Compile Heart. Compile Heart's Agarest Senki staff is leading the development.

Characters
Characters from the respective devs will be featured from Vampire (Capcom, Darkstalkers in the US), Ar Tonelico (Bandai-Namco), Disgaea (Nippon Ichi), Spectral Souls (Idea Factory), and Mana Khemia 2 (Gust).

Hero: Kannagi Yuuto
Heroine: Aiba Mikoto

Vampire/Darkstalkers:
Morrigan
Felicia
Demitri

Ar Tonelico:
Orica
Misha
Shurelia

Disgaea:
Etona
Prini

Spectral Souls:
Miu

Mana Khemia 2/Marie's Atelier (sp?):
Lilia
Rose
Marie

Story:
Main character(s? not sure if you choose one or the other or stuck with both) wakes up in a disorienting screwed up world alongside other characters who don't belong there. The world they wake up in survives and evolves by devouring souls from other realms/worlds. If nothing is done, the worlds from which the souls are being stolen from, will cease to exist...and so starts the story.

Worlds:
There are 2 worlds that are known thus far. The Underworld which consists of souls from Vampire/Darkstalker and Disgaea, and the Dreamworld which consists of souls from Ar Tonelico and Marie's Atelier. Each world has dungeon(s?). Sounds like your goal is to free the souls which don't belong in your realm.

Battle System:
Each charater is alloted action points (AP) and can attack during your turn repeatedly until your AP is used up. You can chain attacks which result in combos which ultimately result in increased damage. Sounds somewhat similar to a modified Ar Tonelico 2's battle system (which was time limited rather than AP, but chaining combos helps increase your harmonics level which resulted in increased damage or something).

Form Change:
As you save more souls from this world, the female characters have the ability to obtain equipable "forms" which increase stats, abilities, and what not. This sounds similar to obtaining costumes from completing cosmosphere levels in ar tonelico I/II.

Saw about that on the RPG site I usually frequent. Not sure if it will ever make it stateside, or how good it is or isn't, but hey I'm always happy to see more RPGness on my poor PS3.

...

Ah, so it's another Namco X Capcom, but with more developers. I see almost no chance of this making it out to the US.

Hopefully it's simple enough to play without having to no Japanese.

Sounds like the attack system might be the same way as the Capcom vs Namco system as well.

It'll be on my list.  Hopefully they cut out the ARP segments.

This looks really, reallly neat. Kotaku put it up as well.

I really hope this comes to America.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

I want this in the US too....the ps3 really needs some JRPG's for the US & PAL.

Yeah, I might import this if it never makes it stateside. Sounds like it has some good potential, lets hope it meets expectations. Good news for Japan too. The more RPG's the better for PS3 sales.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Yeah, seems like something like Namco x Capcom. Too bad it won't make it to the US (unfortunately) :3 More games need to be localized.

This game does have a chance to make it to the United State Shores. A game very similar to its idea in combining many different characters from different RPG's is already coming to the states and it is named Choas Wars for the PS2. Second the PS3 is still lacking in RPG's so this game can help fill the void until more RPGs are released on the system

Systems I own (Games)

Sega: Dreamcast (40) , Saturn (25), Genesis (50), Masters System (10), Game Gear (20)

Sony: PS1 (8), PS2 (60) , PS3 (5), PSP (12)

Atari: 2600 (18) , 7800 (10), Lynx (10)

Looks like an extension of Namco x Capcom, but still some very odd combinations. Still, Zero Chance of this coming to the US feels like a lost opportunity...

I am SuperLloyd!

(Im)patiently awaiting the Dawn of the New World!

Chaos Wars is coming to the US as a Gamestop exclusive.

In otherwords they are going to make like next to zero copies.

Also it was released in 2006 in japan.

The best case scenario of it coming out 2+ years from now isn't promising.

Does remind me that I need to preorder Chaos Wars though.

That's what i hate though.  SRPGs are such a niche genre... further limited by the fact that only a third of them at most get stateside releases.

Which sucks...
