Ok lets get serious here.
There's this thing called dial up, some of you are maybe too young to remember it but it does exist.
So basically you guys are arguing you don't have a phone line at home ?

PS : Or if you have a cellphone with any kind of net browsing capacity you should be able to connect your laptop to the net through the cellphone..

If you have no internet, no fixed phone line, no cellphone you are screwed. 10 000 BC probably was made after you...

I am not going to pay for a dial-up connection monthly so I can try and activate a game when my internet goes down. That is beyond stupid. My cellphone does not have the ability to surf the internet either so far as I know. If it can, I am relatively certain it will cost me extra to use that feature. How about this. You stop telling other people how this isn't a problem for them when you have no fucking clue what you are talking about, mmmkay? You are spewing non-sensical crap to try and invalidate legitimate complaints. If you don't want to read about people complaining then get the fuck off the internet. It is for whining, porn, and whining about porn.

And for everyone saying they're not going to buy SPORE now: Shut Up ,this method doesn't affect SPORE since you NEED an internet connection to get the most out of the game. The 3 activation limits is a pain is the ass though, but let's be fair, 99% of us won't install the game in more than 3 PC's.

Well thank you for telling me how I am going to play my game. Here I was thinking I would mostly stick to the single player aspects, and creating units for fun because I loathe online multiplayer in 99% of games. Thank you for correcting me on that. I am glad to hear I will suddenly really want to play online, and only online. I would have thought my previous tendency to avoid online would be maintained with Spore, but you have shown me the error of my ways. Thank you for telling me my preferences.

Maybe you aren't very familiar with Spore, but what you just stated is completely wrong. Spore doesn't have an "online mode". What Spore does is download user-created creatures and populate the universe with them; this is not just a small "online mode", it is directly related to the core gameplay. You simply MUST have an internet connection to fully enjoy Spore.

Why should EA be able to dictate the requirements for PC gaming? Not all PC gamers have 100% internet access all the time. See Kwaad and Zenfolder's example. Why are you (shio) defending these people?

If Spore was my new favorite game at the same time I was to take a few weeks off to visit family in Puerto Rico (where I wouldn't have internet access, most likely), I would bring a laptop or something to play games here and there. It would be really inconvenient to not be able to play the game.

Because it's their frigging game.

They can do whatever they want with it.

Don't like it, don't buy it but no need to start a 120 posts threads explaining how this is the major issue for the game...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Actually I know nothing about the online portion of the game. I remember hearing something about interacting with other players games and having that change the way your units evolved. This should highlight just how much I don't care about the online. I won't be downloading other peoples creatues, and I won't feel I am missing anything. It is not essential to my enjoyment of the game. I do not have to have an internet connection to fully enjoy Spore. You might, but I don't. That is just a difference in opinion. I would recommend you stop trying to tell people that theirs is wrong.

No one forced you to click on this thread. No one forced you to read it. No one forced you to read the replies. And no one is trying to force you to think this is a big issue. If you don't like the topic of conversation then leave the thread and move on. You have no right to dictate what should or should not be discussed by other people. Don't like it, don't read it. No need to make several posts that add nothing to the conversation.

EA released a statement saying they aren't going to do this now. You will have to connect to the internet to verify your game, then whenever you download an update or new maps etc you will have to reverify it and not every 10 days. this also has the added effect of allowing us not to have to have the disc to play the game.
