Forums - Gaming - Big games left in 2008.

So now that GTA4 dust has settled and Alan Wake, Killzone 2, Final Fantasy 13 and GT5 most likely will have a 2009 release date, I thought it would be cool to list the remaining games that I think will be worthwhile in 2008. I based the list on my own judgement of games coolness factor/past hit franchises/proven developers.

I did not care about sales when compiling this list as we all know My little Pony, Madden 09 and Guitar Hero Aersomith will sell lots while being simple upgrades to existing games or just crappy games people will eat up.

Note - Nintendo doesn't announce games ahead of time anymore hence why there are no nintendo games on the list... if you guys know of any wii games that are secretly in development, please don't hesitate to share.

*edit - games added

Alone in the Dark
Banjo-Kazooie 3
Battlefield: Bad Company
Disaster: Day of Crisis

Motorstorm: Pacifica Rift aka Motorstorm 2
A.P.B. (this might be 2009)

The Agency (? some might consider it big)

Madden and NCAA obviously, but who cares about sports games.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. I'm looking forward to
fatal frame lV
disaster day of crisis
monster hunter 3

Nintendo Network ID: Sherlock99

Smash Bros PAL of course

I am glad you mentioned Nintendo's new policy, I came in this thread specifically to remind people of it.

LBP should definately be in the list, but I thought Resistance 2 was now 2009? (or was that just GT5)

Resistance 2 is on track for this year. Insomniac apparently has one of the most talented group of developers in existence with their ability to churn out a well-polished game every year.

Assuming your criteria for a "big game" is it has to be atleast a million seller and have a " famous name", then there's alot of PC games missing. I can help fill it in:

SPORE
Starcraft 2
World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King
Mass Effect PC
GTA IV PC
Dragon Age
Empire: Total War
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky
RAGE
Age of Conan
Space Siege
Warhammer Online
Far Cry 2
Mafia 2
Sacred 2
Project Offset

But if your criteria is just having good reviews, then there's quite a few niches games that would fit in and potentially a bunch of others, but I'm not gonna list them now.

Spore. Can't have a list without Spore. It's just not right!

@shio

Yeah, I don't follow PC at all so I decided to keep this consoles only.

I didn't care about sales for the list...or the reviews only. More like...games with hype...yeah thats it :)

2 console games on that list however should be added ...Mafia 2 and Far Cry 2. Mafia 2 is 2009 tho so Far Cry 2 only I guess...

Is SPORE coming out for consoles?

When is Conduit getting released?

Anyway, there's:

-Red Steel 2 (supposedly)
-Animal Crossing (at least for Japan)
-Call of Duty 5
-Disaster
-Not sure if you'd count this, but GTAIV exclusive content, since it's supposed to be full expansions a 'la Half Life Episodes.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
