Forums - Nintendo - Who thought Mario Kart Wii was hard?

i didn't find it hard but it took some time to get used to. altough when playig online, its a little more difficult, i just recently switched to using a bike because i was getting my ass whooped with the kart. but once you get the hang of it, it gets a lot easier.

@twestern shouldn't that be the mentality of racers to go as fast as u can and get ahead of everybody else not stay in second or third thats boring

If Mario Kart was just a racing game then that would be a problem (and I wouldn't play it) but Mario Kart has always been about the powerups.

You either go far enough infront so that a blue shell won't effect your race position (and hope there isn't more than 1 in close succession!) or you stay will the pack and take your chances that way.

In my many many hours of MK Wii I have only once seen more than 2 blue shells in a single lap, usually there might be 1-3 in the whole race, sometimes 2 or those might be in the same lap but are rarely close together.

Once however on Dks Snowboard Cross, 150cc (in a 1 player grand prix) there were 6 blue shells in total,
1 on the first lap that hit me directly (but also got 2nd place).
1 on Lap 2 which hit me only.
4!!! on lap three, the first one hit me only, the second one hit me and 2nd place but some other racers passed me, the third hit 1st place and spun 2nd and third so I went back into 1st, and the last hit me only just before the finish line, but I still got 1st place just.

To answer the original post, I think it's hard. It's probably that I'm still not used to the Wii wheel, but for whatever reason I'm having a harder time with it than any other racing game. Of course, I'm also enjoying it more than any other racing game aside from the F-Zero series, so no complaints here.

haha yes someone finallyt said it.
I actually found it hard on some level
its so different, imo, to Double Dash and
MK for the DS

i dont get how to do tricks...

That's nothing. On one race towards the very end of the third lap I was cruising comfortably in first when someone got a POW block that made me slide into my banana peel.  The someone hit me with a blue turtle shell.  The second I was done recovering I was hit with a red shell.  The second I was done recovering from that I was hit by a person with a star.  The second I was done with that I was hit by a bullet bill.  After that someone got a lightning bolt and was finally finished off by someone with a large mushroom.

It sucked beyond belief but I was actually laughing when it was all through.

^ha ha yeah when it goes incredibly bad you just have to laugh.

I was racing with NJ5 on a worldwide/continental race on Peach Beach (I had 9500+points), last lap just after all the ducks and before the last corner I was hit by a blue shell, then a red shell, then a starman then as I was on the last straight a final red shell... I came 10th out of 11 I think and lost 320 points.

I find it hard to get star ranking in 150cc -_-....everything else was pretty easy. Some of the ghosts in time trial are hard to beat too ....

@twesterm and TWRoO

lol I hate it when stuff like that happens.

Yesterday I was racing on Waluigi Stadium and all I need to get gold in the banana cup was finish well here, particularly better than Rosalina.

Well, I had a good race and was in a decent 1st place lead. Literally feet from the finish line (I almost wrecked across it I was so close) I was taken out by a POW, Blue Shell, and hit by a lighting in order that pushed me down to 5th place and a silver. :( I was so pissed.

I got a star the next time around.

It blows my mind sometimes.

Maybe 150cc is so hard because, y'know, it's hard mode! Do these guys really want everything handed to them on a silver platter?

It's Trauma Center: New Blood all over again. If you suck, switch it to easy and try again. Don't be a princess and whine because you couldn't beat it on a harder difficulty. Some content should be designed for low-skill players and some should be deisgned for high-skill players.
