Looking at the sales this week i predict that by xmas this year that the Wii will have overtaken the combined sales of PS3 AND X360, i might be wrong but at least its worth a guess

The Wii will never overtake the combined sales of the PS3 and 360. Wii will never hold 50% market share for this current generation.

The Wii will be at least 50% market share by Xmas 2008.

Thats an impossible task with the PS3 still around....so yeah never.

I'm predicting at mid-2009 the earliest.

Never! This was possible when the playstation 3 was so expensive, but now that it's doing well, it will never happen.

Wii is still regularly outselling PS3/360 combined. Holidays are the real killer though. If Nintendo really pumps out supply this holiday quarter, they could possibly make it this year, otherwise, who knows.

After seeing the marginal hardware boost PS3 and 360 received from GTA I'm sure it will be around Christmas.
Wii outsold the two HD consoles combined in the week their biggest game this generation launched. Surely Wii will get 50% and more.

People we all have to take into consideration that the Wii will never reduce its console price. Iwata, Nintendo business chief even said that there are no price cuts for Wii and DS in the future. Nintendo would only cut prices if they need to and the Wii and DS are both selling well.

On the other hand sometime this year PS3 and 360 will both have further price cuts in Europe and North American regions and these could help boost HD console sales.

Not happening this year, PS3 and X360 will also have sales this year and during the holidays. And the longer it takes the harder it will get to reach those numbers. Sqrl provided a handy little formula for calculating roughly how long it would take for the Wii to exceed 50% of LTD sales:

Even with the current rate of sales for each console the Wii can't pass the 50% mark this year. This is not to say that Wii could not do it at some point but it's more likely to happen in 2009/2010.
