Seeing stories like this, add in the Wii Fit promotions and Toys R Us, I have to wonder if some Wii sales might be unaccounted for in NPD results.

The electronics department stocked up on 60 Nintendo Wii game consoles for today's debut.

"Every grand opening I've been at, there's a big line for Wii's" Infante (Walmart spokesperson) said.

Last time I checked you had to buy 5 or 6 games along with the Wii to get one at Wal Mart. Unless they drop that stupidity I doubt Wal Marts numbers would change much on the Wii and WiiFit number side.

The numbers just weren't stellar because Americans are fat and lazy. :)



I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

Walmart is the biggest retailer in the nation. They don't let anything dominate their home page unless they think they can pull in big numbers. And big numbers for Walmart are really BIG numbers.

You know that 'Americans are fat and lazy' statement is blatantly not true of the majority of the population.

Also what NPD miss VGC misses also, Ioi doesn't have these numbers either.

Well VGC doesn't get Walmart numbers either. Its foolish to assume that NPD doesn't take these things into consideration. It's not like they have a huge database of previous Walmart sales or anything. ;)

 That's only if you buy online. The article is about in-store lines...

First you mix up online sales with in store sales and then you ramble on one of the most BS American stereotypes out there.

I'm sure that NPD can handle it just fine. They've been fine the last few months, and haven't had Wal-mart sales.
