Forums - Nintendo - So... did GTA IV dent the Wii's armor in america yet like Forbes said?

What's all this about 1:1 sword/saber action? sorry but how would that work if your in game sword were to hit something?

If your lightsaber hits your opponents light saber what is the Wii remote supposed to do exactly, stop in mid air?

All I can think of is that it would vibrate a bit (and make a cool 'saber noise from the speaker) but then of course your hand would have gone past the point where it is 1:1, you are pointing it to the left and on screen it is still locked onto another lightsaber.

IF any armor is dented here, it's not Wii's but PS360's, which combined just got outsold in the week in which their biggest game was launched...

Not that I expect anything like that appearing in the news of course, at least not to the extent it would have if it was the other way around.

The current console generation is like a Presidential election with a three cornered race: if any two candidates share far too similar visions, the third candidate's going to win without a sweat.

It's like in the Taiwan 2000 elections. The ruling party had a split and fielded two candidates. As a result, the opposition was able to win, with a measly 38% of the votes! Of course, the Wii's doing much better at this point, having 45%, but the idea is the same.

That idea doesn't really work if the Wii ends up with more than 50% (which it will).

But either way, it's a "first-past-the-post" voting system. The one with the most sales wins, everyone else loses. The Wii's dominance is helped by the fact that the X360 and PS3 look too similar and hence slaughter each other in this race.

If it's a race between 2 opponents, the winner will always have >50%.

The Wii has armor?

Oh shit, we're all doomed.

why is it for the past two to three weeks all we heard from sony and microosoft fanboys was that GTA4 was gonna sell millions of consoles and stop the wii from selling anymore? now after it was proven to be the opposite all the sony and microsoft fanboys are now blaming shipments and everything else for their beloved consoles not selling as much as they thought much less in my opinion helping the wii sell even more. i mean cmon if halo barely phased the wii why on earth would u think a multiplatform game was gonna do?

wait till wiifit comes out cause i never realized myself how this thing was gonna sell till my wife saw it and hinted on us getting it. so now i think we are talkin millions of consoles and units sold of wii and for wii. i used to be a huge ninty fanboy till the GCN failed like it did and became a pc gamer instead. which makes more sense then buying a console with inferior technology for the same games.

The only one I personally know was saying such things for sure, was Leo-j.  And unfortunately he's not around anymore to eat his crow.  Though, he'd probably just say "Wait until MGS4!  Then the Wii will stop selling!"

OH, and the GCN didn't fail.  It was third in sales, yeah.  but that doesn't make it a failure,  it was a successful profitable system.  And for many, it had a great line up of games.  And it's kinda like this Gen.  All systems are selling well, despite how they place in relation to each other.  And they all have great games on them.  The gaming industry is doing really well.  People just like to throw it in other people's faces that their system 'won' and their favorite games sell more than the other persons.

And I wonder at how some people have a very selective memory, so selective that they manage to forget the years of bashing a company and a console before it was even released, calling it a failure and the company dead (or at least going third party) before even the release.

But without that selective memory, it would destroy the argument that the Wii is praised just because "People just like to throw it in other people's faces that their system 'won'". Yeah right.
Selective memory is a really good tool.

This GTAIV is exactly the same thing BTW. Selective memory kicks in again, how convenient.

Because here, the case is not that the Wii just won, the case is that in the huge circle of Wii and Nintendo haters, GTA IV was set from at least 1 year ago, to destroy the Wii and skyrocket the other consoles in sales.

The Wii bubble should then have burst and the Wii should have stop selling.

It's not just a case of cheering for a team there. It's a case of cheering for David who endured lots of abuse before being pitted agains Goliath. And he just went out of the fight and abuse with barely a scratch.

^ I think Hawk is a poor target for your ire.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.
