Currently the Wii is at 25m. In 3 years time from now, they will have produced ~105m units. If they kill it 3 years from now the console will have only lasted 4.5 years. That is a really short life span for a game console. This is of course assuming they don't reduce the production rate for the next 3 years.
Currently the Wii looks like it will have a 6-7 year life span, with the last few years with reduced production rates. So I would assume they are going to produce at least 150m lifetime.
So unless you believe that Wii HD will come out within 3 years time from now, there is no way the lifespan won't be long enough. Nintendo would be commiting corporate suicide if they ditched the Wii within 5 years of release.
