ion-storm,

That sounds like a new plastic case for the Wiimote. The Wiimote IS a light gun.

ckmlb,
But shams' suggestions were still game related (digital distribution) or referring to pictochat which is already on the DS. It's not about playing music and movies. The DS successor (whenever it's going to be released) is absolutely going to have more connectivity. Every device on the planet is going to.

It could be 100 things... but here is my guess:

A new handheld ("GameBoy Cubed"?) - the long rumoured handheld that will play GC games. Disc based, if its true - hopefully will play GC discs directly. If true, it would kill the PSP forever.

...

wait wait, so you want nintendo to copy the Sony route even though the DS is beating the PSP? releasing that kind of a hand held would be retarded right now.

Why would they even go for that? The DS is the way to go for Nintendo not copying the PSP way right now...

I don't know if I would want Nintendo to take that route. The only reason I mention it, is because I have been hearing rumours for at least 2 years now that they have a "portable" GameCube.

I still doubt they would want to, but they could release a PSP-type device without killing the DS (I think...). It would have to use some disc based media - hence GC discs would be perfect (I think they are small enough). Whether the control scheme is feasible... I have no idea.

And it wouldn't be copying the PSP - I think a portable GC would make a lot of sense in its own right.

Only other thing I can think of, is similar to what appeared in another thread today - some new form of the Wiimote, maybe a VoIP phone or microphone, or even a mobile game player (surely they couldn't build a DS into a Wiimote could they?).

All I know, is that I'm more eagerly waiting for E3 - and hope that Nintendo have some nice bombshell to drop.

(PS - Sony will probably reveal the revamped PSP as well this year?).

BTW, I realised something the other day. If Nintendo wanted to, they would release an ADD-ON which turns the DS into a digital distribution device.

Its basically a blank DS cart, with a bit of software - and a lot of rewriteable space. You would keep the cart in the DS, and just download multiple games to that single cart.

They could even use the GBA slot for a storage device, and the DS slot for the "OS/browser".

It is a bit like a plastic add on. But it has an analogue stick on it as well. http://wii.ign.com/articles/707/707077p1.html theres a good link. I don't think they could release another hand held without at least impacting the DS. Just like nintendo never said the DS was a replacement for the GBA, but it really was.

Can't wait for Mario Kart Wii!

That reminds me, what do you think is better, Crash Team Racing, Diddy Kong Racing, or any of the Mario Kart games?

The hardware could be a new attachment for the Wii Remote. And everything you said agrees with what I was saying doesn't it shams? Because I agree with everything you're saying (about E3).

I think your right on the mark, the Wii-mote's attachment piece, and with the way the Wii Play is selling I think we are going to see a series of new hardware come out packaged with games in the Wii ___ series of games. It should continue to sell well, and keep the motion play fresh. Plus there has already been information touching on Wii Health having new hardware.(perhaps something to track your pulse)

Secondly why in their right mind would Nintendo anounce a new console or portable with their two relatively new systems selling so well? That would be bad business. Even if they were set on making a Wii HD or something along them lines, I feel that's at least 2 years away from being shown. Why show it off now when they can't keep this one on the shelves?

There will be no big news released all at once, Nintendo loves to trickle out information a tidbit at a time.

Mario Kart on the snes is and always will be the best Mario Kart game!

new hardware? maybe... 1. wii with more hard drive space..i predict maybe 5 and 10 gig..or 10 and 15 gig.

Nintendo won't expand hard drive space, why would they? Even if you buy 50 virtual console games, you can just delete the ones you don't want to play, and download the ones you DO want to play. Considering how small most of the games are (besides N64), I don't think thats a big priority for Nintendo.

Actually, they might. Not for VC games, but for new ones sold on Wii Ware.  Also, adding a harddrive would allow them to put games from Sega's CD based systems (like NiGHTS for example) on the VC as well (and eventually Gamecube games in 3-4 years when no longer available in stores).
