Forums - Sales - How Pro Evolution Soccer might be the Wii's big weapon in Europe.

Unless i can strap a remote to my leg i will prefer the PS3 version. Moving my hand to kick a ball doesn't appeal to me. Maybe cause i like playing football in real life.

The advantage isn't that in pro evo wii.  It's the advanced passing controls that the PS3 and 360 can't execute.

I think it is doing very well against what is basically seen as a playstation only game in Europe, a lot of people who buy PES will not even think about the X-box or the Wii.

It is likely being bought by the group of gamers who also like football games, and who therefore recognise both it's existance and it's supiriority as a game, but it will take a lot to push into the casuals that basically only buy PES or FIFA (and usually GTA for good measure) for which playstation is synonymous[sp?] with. especially as those people won't like being made to change the way they play.

That much is true. Just how even if it ends up better in it's life PS3 isn't going to steal the core Madden base. Well Madden even more since they have a freakin TV show where people play it on the 360.

The real importance of this though i'd say is that it is definitly the best version of the game.  It shows the Wii can have the unargueably best game in multiplatform games with the 360 and PS3.

Speaking strictly; this game was released about 6 months prior to the EU getting the Wii version, it needs to hit a huge audience in order for it to be recognized as such by it's 09 itteration.

At this rate it's possible but it needs to pick up somethign fierce to nail a million in another 7 months. Granted 500k is quite a huge number hitting 1 mil would almost certainly set in stone profits from that region on this platform for years to come.

I didn't buy the game though as I already have Mario Strikers and my friends don't even like playing that. if PES is online capable I'll check it out.

it is online capable, but it uses the friend codes

higher ratings for the Wii Pro Evo don't make it the best Pro Evo out there, you cannot see a score for the Wii Pro Evo without the context of it being on the Wii and the absence of the series on the GameCube, but what is so, is that even Konami wasn't happy with Pro Evo 2008, but they have promised to make everything up with the 2009 version, the PS2 Pro Evo 2008 is it seems the best version at the moment, but it depends to whom you want to listen

How is the PS2 version best? Even if it was, it doesn't change the fact the Wii version is better then the 360 PS3 versions.

Pro Evo not being on the cube gives the wii version a disadvantage.  Not an advantage.  Because people are used to playing it on the PS2.  Even reviewers.

So the PS2 control scheme is going to get a bit of bias towards it.

The greatest advantage of pro evo wii is also it's biggest disadvantage. Accurate controls, so long as you play pro evo sitting perfectly still. I don't know anyone who plays pro evo that isn't very animated whilst doing so. Move about at the wrong time and you've let in a goal cos you haven't been religiously pointing the wiimote at the ir receiver. That's my main worry. I couldn't even play dragon ball z because I kept pointing the wiimote off the tv and i'm not overly excited by dragon ball. I'd be doomed in pro evo!

Pro evo online means nothing, it's all about 1 on 1 offline play.

Yes

Ajax, We obviously read totally different things on the net....

"Providing a free-flowing football experience like no other before it, it's not only the best title of its sort on the Wii, but also an indicator of what's possible for the genre as a whole when genuine innovation is applied. "

"PES 2008 brings soccer games back to life with its fresh approach. Plus, with hidden gems like the ability to field a team of your Miis, it is impossible for me to not lend it my staunch support."

"The most innovative football title we've come across in many years."

"The less-technically apt Wii version ends up being the game to move the franchise forward. "

"The icing on the cake has to be one-vs-one and online play"

@stof

Good post mate. I am a huge FIFA fan but i have to agree with everything you said..

the history Pro Evo has on the PSX makes it every year comparable to the last version, and it must exceed it or equal it somehow every year to get a just as high rating, while football on the Wii or on a Nintendo console just got a fresh start, and hail must go to Konami, while EA is still nowhere to be seen..

''Hadouken!''

I don't think Fifa 09 on the Wii will play anything like Fifa 08 on the Wii (a disaster). That's why the PES Wii controls are evolutionary, Hockey & N.A. football games wii see an evolution of this type as well (though it's too late for the ones being released this year.)
