first off this isn't a flame thread so no fanboy crap here ok.

has anyone noticed that everytime your in first place the A.I. gets all these damn powerups and knocks you out of first place. I mean good lord you can run a flawless race and finish in fourth place its freaking crazy. What the hell is wrong with these game designers?????

I can understand giving powerups to people in last place but come on should you be punished for running a flawless race?????

Nintendo really needs a patch to fix this, it destroys the gameplay on a otherwise fun game :(

Have you every noticed that when you're in 12th place you get all these insane power ups that totally screw the people in first place?

Yeah, it doesn't sound so bad when you realize you get those same powerups when you're in the lower places too.

Actually that doesn't really happen much. The powerups you get when you're last rarely affect the person in the first place. As far as I remember, you don't get the blue shell in 12th place. There's the thunder cloud, but that affects everyone almost equally (the slight difference is in the timespan of being small, which I believe is bigger the better your position is).

Really?  When I'm in the lower places I rarely get the bad powerups.  When I'm in 12 I just about always get a lightning bolt or a gold mushroom, when I'm in someplace around 10th I usually get a blue shell or star, and when I'm in something around 7th or 8th place I usually get 3 red shells or a POW I believe.

Hasn't this been the case with all Mario Karts????
Thats correct In fact I missed that on Diddy Kong Racing... The good part is having the strategy to prevent all those attacks coming after you...

Mario Kart always had cath up, but the question is, is the cath up 'too great' this time? it's not the first time I hear this complaint you know..

Why do I feel like I'm the only one who ever actually played the original Super Mario Kart?

That game did NOT have special catch-up crap attached to the AI. In fact, you could lap computer opponents simply by racing well. Mario Kart 64 was the first to introduce "You're in first, I go faster" to the equation.

The original kart had rubber band AI to a point but on plenty of tracks you could effectively 'break' the rubber band if you drove at top speed for an extended period. Some tracks like the Koopa Beaches and Chocolate Islands which stopped you from reaching and staying at your cart's top speed were a little harder because you couldn't easily get a big lead and thus were more prone to red shells and the like.

Explain what you mean by "rubber band AI."

Either your definition is not what I'm thinking or you have no idea what you're talking about.

If you guys are really annoyed with blue shells, there is a glitch you can abuse to get rid of them. I haven't done this online, as I've seen people been week-banned, and I don't want that.

What you do, is that when you hear the Wiimote speaker yell, you start sliding until you hit a 20-50 degree sideways slope. Right before you hit it, you wheelie. This causes you to change your driving degree, and makes you head a bit more to the left that you otherwise would have. For some reason, the blue shell cannot find you now, and turns back and hits the second place.

This doesn't work on all courses, and not everywhere, but it is helpful if you don't mind semi-cheating. I have only done this a few times, as I feel it is more than semi, and I haven't checked it out in TT or WFC

Ok, another shortcut you can do on many courses. If you have Bullet Bill and jump off the course, straight in direction of another platform, he takes you there if your nose is headed there. I wouldn't count this as a glitch, but some people would.

To avoid a pow-block, start sliding, hit a 20-50 degree sideways slope, release the slide button, and start a wheelie. If you timed it right, which is fairly easy, you won't get hit at all. I don't count this as a glitch either.

How did you hear about someone getting banned from Mario Kart. All I have heard is that those who were cheating on the time trials were having their records erased.

Also,

If you don't want to do the 20-50 degree slide to dodge a pow block, you can minimize the pow block by doing a trick. All you do, is when the pow block goes off, you act like your executing a trick, and you spin once, and you don't come to a stop.

Doing that move can gain you a large lead or help you catch up if others don't perform it also. As far as I can tell, it was intentional to include that.

I don't know if hopping will do the same or even a complete dodge, but any small jump will save you from a pow block.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

When someone is banned, all their points dissapear, and they get a skull where some have a star. If you point at it, it says how long the person is banned for.
