Well I'm finally looking at replacing a 9 year old 36" TV that has served as a constant hub of gaming activity for the entirety of its life (9 years actual, but more like 15 of equivalent usage).
So with that in mind I'm going to be heading to Nebraska Furniture Mart today for a sale and I'm hoping to land a good TV at a good price.
For those who don't know: NFM is the largest (single location) furniture store in the world. It sits on 77 acres with over one million square feet under roof. Each year there is a weekend sale for stockholder's of BH where we can pick up some nice bargains on everything in the store and of course I'm taking this opportunity this year to do some shopping
. If you want the complete history of NFM and a nice example of the American Dream check it out here (it is a great story).
Ok so thats the background, the details are as follows:
- 720p
- 37" to 47"
- Highly Resistant to burn-in (it will occasionally get left on)
- Decent viewing angle, it will face the center seat of an L-shaped couch (thing)
- The room is usually fairly dark, so brightness isn't a major factor
- Probably looking to spend around $6-800 and if the deal is good enough as high as $1k (keep in mind
So I'm interested primarily in what brands people think are good as well as if there are any features I should be aware of to look for/avoid. I haven't really looked into TVs in a while and normally I would do this research on my own but its sort of a last minute info gathering process.
Please please if you aren't 100% sure about your info don't post it, I appreciate the help but I really need it to be accurate. So for all of our TV gurus please give me your tidbits, and don't dumb it down~
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.
PS - If you have specific suggestions please link to the TV and let me know what a great/good price would be for the TV.
