Forums - Sony - FFVII Director On Chances Of A Remake

There's also the fact that Crisis Core started development at some point in 2004. There wasn't eactly a clear winner just yet.

Yes, yes. Japan wants a Final Fantasy VII remake. Maybe you want a remake, too. This we know! But is it possible? Well, of course, it's possible. But what are the chances of it actually happening any time soon? Square Enix's Yoshinori Kitase, director of the original FFVII, says:

''My feelings are that if a remake were to work well then all the core members of the original team must be reassembled, all the artists and designers.

The problem is that, although all of us have an idea of what a remake should be and how to do it, organising such a thing right now is logistically very difficult. All the different members are now involved in very new, very large projects like Final Fantasy XIII and those projects are going to take a while.

Maybe, when all those games are finished then we can look at doing something like that.

Of course, that said we came up with the idea for Crisis Core in just two days. It was a case of 'this is what we want to do, so let's do it'. So, you can definitely expect the probability of something spontaneous happening at some point, but it's hard to predict.''

Seeing this is already a high chance of happening!

@Moneybags

There are a lot of ways to get attention rather than acting like the troll you are now.

Please do!!!! I never got a chance to play it originally, and playing it in HD with a few fixes would be so much better

They'll remake 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6.

But not VII?

So dumb SE.

Just do it.

Square Enix is going to make a remake. It's just this game is so big and a popular game that it's going to take sometime.

It would be awesome if they remade the graphics to PS3 standards. Now that would be whats up!!

But I'm just asking for to much, just do a remake for FFVII SQUARE ENIX!!!!!!

The remake is coming, no question about it,, and i think that it will be sooner than everyone thinks,, it will end up on PS3 naturally, and i think that sony will finance it,
But in all honesty, i really hope that they remake FF VIII instead, it's my number one FF, but i know that my wish will never be realised until they remake the VII :(

Currently Playing: Final Fantasy XIII (PS3), White Knight Chronicles (PS3), PES 2010 (PS3), Killzone 2 (PS3)

Games to Finish: Silent hill Homecoming (PS3), Valkyria Chronicles (PS3), Oblivion (PS3)

I've played the game, finished it and enjoyed it but I really dont think it's worth a remake.

Pacman taught people to run around in dark rooms munching on pills while listening to repettive techno music and for that I somewhat idolise him.

Why would it be remade on the Wii? No one would buy it because all Nintendo Fanboys hate all FF's after VI. :P

If they did remake it, I wouldn't expect it before 2011, because of XIII and versus XIII.

That's good news, if it actually happens. This is a long way off though. I'm also going to guess they wouldn't decide what platform to put it on until they see how will FFXIII does. However, I'm a little more excited about a VI remake. My personal favorite RPG. Now if only they could revisit Chrono Trigger...

While I personally have little interest in a remake, it would be foolish for Square to not get the ball rolling with this project. It would be such a cash cow for them, regardless of where they put it. In order of priority of consoles it should be on, I think it should go to PS3, to keep with the Advent Children art direction and make use of the White Engine that powered the FF VII tech demo. After that I would say either DS or Wii, but would probably sell a bit better on DS personally. After that coming in fourth would be the PSP for the fact that it could continue directly from where Crisis Core left off and be continuous. Outside of it being multiplatform, I see no reason for Square to consider putting this on the 360, as it would give them the worst return on their investment.
