Earthbound is a classic.  If you don't mind the aged battle system, you'll like the game as the humor is pretty good.

The Virtua Console needs RPG. This will be my first purchase!

Umm, my top 5 are FF6, CT, FF4, FF7 and... Earthbound is in my top 10, for sure (but I've never played a Dragon Quest game). It is also in my top 10 SNES games (at #7). I thought I still owned it but I found out a few months ago that I lost it. As you can imagine, part of me died that day

It's about four kids going out to try to stop an alien invasion that's going to take place (ten years? forget the exact time) in the future. It's a lot like dragon quest with a few twists (your hp rolls down when you get hit, so even if you take 500 damage when you only have 400 hp you're still able to heal yourself before you die). Earthbound is the game Ness is from. You get four charachters all together, a little more if you count temporary helpers. The game is pretty... quirky, that combined with antiquitated graphics seems to turn alot of people off. You're either going to love it or hate it.

 Personally I can't wait to get this for the VC. It'll save me the trouble of whipping out my Snes every other week to get some Earthbound lovin'.

I think if EarthBound sells really well in North America and Europe. Nintendo might see reason to bring EarthBound0 and EarthBound2 to North America and Europe via different means.

Also they could see a reason to renew the series without BrownieBrown!

See my top five are Earthbound, Chrono Trigger and FF6 about even for the top, with 4 and 5 changing whenever... usually involving FF4 somewhere and FF7 waaaaaaaaaaaaaay at the bottem somewhere behind games like Robotrek, Lufia, breath of Fire, 7th saga, FF12, Shadowrun, Elder Scrolls games, FF5, FF1, Destiny of an Emperor, Dragon Warrior, Ultima games, Xenogears, Suikoden etc.
Basically FF7 is about the worst RPG I can remember playing as all i remember about 8 is a vague level of dislike...(and i've played a LOT of RPGs.) Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Note the above list does not count SRPGs.

My girlfriend is totally making me an embroidered Mr. Saturn T-Shirt too.  It's going to rule.

No way Kasz216, Wild Arms is by far the worst RPG I ever played. Hell, I had more fun playing text based RPGs.

You mentioned FF1, I am playing the GBA remake right now. Square made the game so much better than the NES version.

What do you like most about Earthbound? I love how the cops are A-holes, just like many cops in real life. The game is also very funny!

Oh man, this is epic. Totally a first day buy, hopefully if it does good enough we'll get mother 3 or some such thing :3 or, even if it doesn't sell great I hope we get it >.>

 

Best game of all time. At least to me, no other game will ever hold it's place. some many good memories. I loved the soundtrack along with all the awesome other stuff :3

 

Anyone who hasn't played this needs to right away, there is no excuse for not playing this^^
