Forums - Sales - Walmart using Wii Fit for Mother's Day Promotion

I really hope that people know you need a Wii to play WiiFit. I can see Nintendo marketing the WiiFit really vigorously, people buying it and then being like "I had no idea you needed a Wii...another $250 dollar purchase. No one told me that" Anyone else get that feeling? I mean, I know that would be pretty stupid of people. Like...where do they think the disc goes then? But still....I bet it'll happen.

This is why Wii Fit will sell millions so easily

If you're so stupid that you don't realize you need a Wii to play Wii Fit (let alone fail to read so on the box) you deserve to be out $90. Just my opinion. And as to the comments on it being a gift that implies "you need to lose weight", I'd beg to differ. Looks like something fun for someone who already does yoga, etc. If anything, it might make a daily routine more entertaining (such as the jogging in place or having your own virtual yoga instructor). It all depends on who you give it to, but even if the person was overweight perhaps rather than ignoring it you should show them you care and try to help (I know that's not always possible, there are conditions such as thyroid problems that slow the metabolism).

I would so get this for my mom. If only I had a Nintendo Wii though.

I need to save for one and then find one :(

Here in Spain, promoting this kind of games as a gift for mother's day is very commun, In fact, wii fit and brain training is advertised as a mother's day gift here too.

 @loadedstatement

Here, in tv adverts it is written "You need a Wii to play Wii fit", in Spanish of course, xD

Slightly off topic, but thanks for reminding me that Mother's Day is fast approaching, Fishy.

Wouldn't want to slight my dear Mama.

I saw this. I lol'ed. Good marketing though.

What?

Mother's Day was month's ago, father's day is rushing up now.

This must be part of the big ad campaign and different type of advertising Nintendo spoke about not too long ago for this game.

I'm still waiting for the Oprah spot.

The article is referring to U.S. Mother's Day, which will apparently take place on May 11.

Oh, and my thanks for reminding me about Father's Day as well.
