Forums - Gaming - Activision ditches E3 2008

Ouch. That is a serious blow for E3.

oh darn...

Not good. I want E3 to be HUGE for all three consoles. I have an uncomfortable feeling that with the current US economic climate, holiday gaming sales wont be nearly as spectacular as last year unless the industry pulls some awesome stuff out of it's ass.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

meh. not a big loss really. non of there games are ever spectacular apart from COD

No participation from Activision means more spotlight for the developers that do attend and decide to strut their stuff.

E3 is dead. Pretty much every big company now saves their big guns for other shows, like CES, the TGS, or now even PAX. Back when E3 was a more open event, and not purely invite only, it was a big deal, and every company bent over backwards to showcase anything and everything on the horizon. (I loved the 2 E3's I got to attend.) Now, it's still a decent blip on the screen, but hardly what it was even a few years ago.

The dedication you show to any particular console or company is inversely proportional to the number of times you have gotten laid. If you get laid enough, even if you prefer a certain brand, you just don't give enough of a shit to argue about it on the internet.

Activision is now easily big enough to hold their own conference / show, when they want. Its cheaper, and they get all the attention.

I don't even care, really. Activision doesn't make anything I like.
