Forums - General - How much does your electricity cost per kW/h?

Mistershine started an interesting discussion on the price of gas (petrol). I figured I would do the same for the price of electricty. Here in the province of Quebec (in Canada), we pay .0529$ per kW/h for the first 30 kW/h of each day and .0703 per additional kW/H. Also, if you know or care to research it, what is/are the sources of your energy (hydro, nuclear, coal)? Here it is 97% Hydro-electric. Thank you to those who participate. (I hate to start a thread and run, but its supper time. Be back later. :) )

The easiest thing I could find is:
11.89p kw/h from 2006, so it's prolly a lot more by now.

bc hydro is now 7 cents a kwh based on a 1000 kwh monthly consumption

because i only use about 100 kwh a month i only get charged 6.01 cents a kwh

everyone gets charged 12.9 cents per day to be hooked up to the service. the cost of the kwh usage is added onto that.

the majority of the power produced is from hydro.

My apartment complex gets some kind of discount, but I end up paying 7 cents per kWh.

Why does it get a discount?

Around the Network

Because it does. Hell if I know, they have some kind of arrangement with the power company.

we pay 0.31 $ per KWH, and our energy is 70% from termic plants and the rest is hidroelectric

in Toronto, I believe it's 5.6 cents per kwh, one the cheapest in the world.

God I love it here, almost make me forgot how much we are getting RAPED by oil company.

Woot Woot for Pickering Nuclear powerplant.

According to pre-order rate in week 13 (post id: 2902544)

About 1.10 NOK per Kw/h here now, it has been all the way up to 1.50 NOK.
85% of Norways energy come from water turbines, the rest is gas.
My home county has 100% water turbine power though, there are four power stations within a 40 km radius of my house actually!

@Mummelmann
You're paying just about the same as ElGefe, .30$ per kWh. That's incredibly high. I would definitely not use folding@home at those prices.

It appears from my, Skip and King of Wale's that Canada has some pretty advantageous prices. I am surprised by Entroper's response that Virginia gets pretty good rates too.
