Age plays a very important factor in this topic.


Older gamers are likely to suggest and older generation was best while younger gamers aren't a jaded and are more easily impressed.

I'm one of those older gamers Viper1. From the Nes Gen to now, I really can't think of a gen that hasn't been absolutely awesome. Yup, hurray for everything!

I feel this era is best because of DS. So many dam fine games. Wii too.

I'm also unimpressed with this gen not many must have games for me. It might be that I'm getting older but I'm only 22 and there is many many people here that is older then me. Dont own any nextgen consoles yet.

I'm not unimpressed - but I've seen nothing 'hit it out of the park' yet. GoW, Uncharted, and many others have been very good games.

Wii has delivered something new (although its not quite my thing).

But nothing on either has made me go wow they way I have historically with games like Deus Ex, System Shock, Counter Strike, Grim Fandango, etc.

I think in may case the issue is that for every great game this gen - for example Bioshock - I've played something at least as good on PC previously (Deus Ex & System Shock).

But, as Twesterm says its still very early yet - and a lot of games are going to expand on what we've had so far I'm sure.

This gen for me is the best I've ever seen. And I would divide them into 3 category.

1... Games that impressed me deeply: Games like Uncharted, GTAIV, GeoW, Bioshock, SMG, Crisis Core, The World ends with you.... I was able to play most of those games.

2... Games that doesn't impress me at all but I respect that it does impress certain people: Games like Wiifit, Carnival game, M&S

3... Absolute garbage that makes you wonder why anyone would buy them: Games like Imagine Babez, Pony and I, Chicken Shoot.

So far I'm not really impressed, which probably (along with finances...) is a major reason why I've yet to make the "next gen" leap myself.
There have been good games for sure, but nothing exceptional or must-have imo. Most of the highest profile games so far this gen are shooters, mediocre ones at that, and I think that's kinda sad tbh.
I'll wait probably another year to buy a new console and I'm quite sure that the insane PC lineup for 08 and 09 will easily tide me over till then!

I don't need to be impressed yet.  I never had a Gamecube so thanks to the Wii I have an entire generation of great games to pick up and play.  By the time I finish with all the great Gamecube games available, I'm sure there will be more than enough Wii games to go through.

Oh btw I'm only 17 lol , I don't think my age should be too much of a factor but i've been gaming since I was able to walk.
