Forums - General - UK fuel @ £5($9.93) a gallon!!

Paying 1.2 ltr here in Toronto Canada. That's not what pisses me off.

What pisses me off is the big car companies see no incentive to create a TRUE electric car. I mean, why would they when they are 'buddy-buddy' with the big oil company? Why make something that would make the average Joes like me happy?

There are too many limitations in an electric car. They don't serve enough of the population well enough to justify the massive expenditure in R&D. The battery tech needed would cost a fortune by itself.

Hybrids are a logical step. They use existing technology that forklifts have used for ages and they already have the gasoline infrastructure in place to allow people freedom of movement, which is the point of a car, after all.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

my car gets used less and less because of this shit.

Shit son! How long can the fuel prices keep rising? This sucks, especially with Shell & BP having combined last 1/4 profits of £7bln.

 It is outrageous.

Costco gas is the cheapest and the priceis the national average price of gas and it is the cheapest place to get gas around here.

Regular Gas Stations offer gas now at 3.64 (near my school)

that is SOO expensive.

Although i don't drive i feel bad for ppl. for they have to pay so much

but think of those who have to use PREMIUM fuel. ouch

its simple there are too many people using too many resourses at least if things get too expensive then that could save our planet, its food prices im more worried about (althought transport is part of that cost) because people are going to die becuaswe of the costs of food. the worst the planet get the hardest it will be to grow the stuff and the higher the price.

That's crazy.... And I thought prices in the US are bad... (well, they are, but...)

You brits aren't helping and actually hurting prices with the recent strikes of workers in the oil industry in the UK.

there is the link.

I read the wiki article and my first reaction was "DAYAM" people in the middle east still pay like 30 cents a gallon. That's incredible.

Anyways, I think the high gas prices are almost a good thing for the United States, at least. The only way to shock and motivate Americans to do ANYTHING is to hit their pocketbooks.

Sales of SUVs are plummeting and people are walking, biking, and using more public transportation.

I hope with the high gas prices, people will be more aware of the environment and will start taking care of the world better.

In other news, people here are thinking about charging as much as 25 cents per plastic bag at the supermarket. I'm for that, too. That way people will start using more cloth and reusable bags.

Clearly, most of the cost in the UK is from taxes.  But then, people have to pay to drive around the city of London during certain hours.  Let's not forget about how expensive parking is over there.

Anyway, with gas prices going up, this helps Nintendo.  More people may quit the gym and buy Wii Fit because it costs so much to drive to the gym a few days a week.
