I'll agree with what everyone is saying here, I'm almost POSITIVE that the Wii version is superior looking, but I haven't played it, and judging from the shots you posted I stand by the original statement xD

| ChronotriggerJM said: LOL god I hope your kidding xD You act as if I HATE the Wii, I don't hate either :P I don't even hate Nintendo for that matter xD Just look at that final screen shot you posted of bowser's castle, tell me that Bowser doesn't look more vibrant in the gamecube version. When I think Nintendo, I think color and imagination, not HDR lighting and blur effects. You wanted honest opinions right? I HONESTLY think the Gamecube version looks better, and by better I mean better use of color. The character models are too simple to really show superiority on that front, just look at the trucks in both on the highway, they're both rectangle with flat textures x.x what more do you want from me? So basing it on that, I'll go with the one that has better color, and sadly, thats the gamecube version x.x |
Fair enough. My opinion is that the GC version has solid, primary colors, while the Wii version has slightly more subdued, but better looking and better lit colors. The comparison from the N64 to the GC was the same, N64 had brighter (primary) colors, but little or no variety, muddier textures, and poorer lighting. I personally think the Wii version looks better (albeit slightly) than the GC. You are entitled to your opinion.
I have just noticed a trend of non-nintendo fans consistently saying the GC version of ______ game looks better than the Wii version without stating any reasons why.
Edit: as to your above post about not having played the game. That was my point as well as the first question I asked in my original post. It seems to me that a lot of non-ninty fans are very quick to say that Wii games look worse than their GC counterparts without ever having played them. Having played SSBB, MKWii, SMG, and MP3, on a 120" projection screen, I can say from experience that there are significant improvements in all of the above, most notably SMG and MP3.
| Naum said: you cant argue with PS3/Xbox360 fanboys, to them "graphics" stands for 85% of a games reviewscore. Mario Kart games should never ever be realistic if they do the tracks cant look like they do in kart games now, no turbo no roller coaster themes, no "homing missiles" no bananas no bombs no stars no lightningbolts and on and on and on take all that away they are just one in a million racergames that flood the market consoles and they as sure as hell isnt even close to the fun kart games are in multiplayer |
He was the one who brought up graphics. With that said, better graphics != realistic. Galaxy looks miles better than this, but isn't realistic.

I agree. As someone who hasn't played the Mario Kart Wii version yet... those pictures really don't distinguish the two enough. Anyone who is seeing major graphical updates between DD and MKWii in those pictures is probably more than a little biased.
No I understand that completely :P Some people are really just dicks sometimes xD I just personally like the vibrant colors that Nintendo uses, I don't really want them to go to more realistic tones. The gamecube version in those screens just have a more varied amount of color, and I dig that about Nintendo ;)

Cool, the screens don't ever really do the game justice anyway. I would suggest at least trying MKWii, it's loads of fun and the online is pretty sweet.
I would of posted my opinions in this thread, but it looks like ChronotriggerJM already posted them.
@OP, next time you post screenshots make sure you get better looking ones for the wii game, or worse looking ones for the GC.
I have to agree with ang, the character models looked meh, specially compared to Brawl, I haven't sunk my teeth into MKWii yet, but after I'm done with Okami I'm sure I will see it for what it is.
I did play it a little while, but man I gotta finish Okami =( That game pissed me off, 32 hours in and I just want to fight the real last boss already.
I'm Unamerica and you can too.
The Official Huge Monster Hunter Thread:
One of the big improvements with this Mario Kart is that you can play 3 or 4 player races with CPU opponents. You couldn't do that before, and even the gamecube version was limited to 8 opponents. That's a big deal for non-online players.
The online is one of the other huge improvements. This game is just damn fun.
Don't get me wrong, I bought a brand new 360 and have a pile of 360 games sitting around. But they just don't get used because Mario Kart is bettah.
MK Wii is a tad better looking than DD.

Nintendo still doomed?
