Can't wait to give the updates a shot. I've been busy with exams week and my room mate's router sucks so I have to make sure that nobody else is using it so I can just hook my computer directly to the modem.

Then again, I pay the bill so I should be able to do what I want, lol.

Wow that's pretty cool. Should give a lot of people a chance to play around with it.

They even let you preload it for this weekend. You can't beat that.

The whole get-achievements-to-earn-new-weapons thing has really turned me off of playing this game. If they do that for all of the classes (without giving some sort of alternative method for unlocking the weapons) I think I'll be moving on to something else...

Way to go Valve.  Everything was perfect, and you had to go and screw up the formula! 

I'm not too happy with the achivements unlock too but at least theres no shortages for Medics anymore. Problem is there are too many Medics now and a lot of them have no clue how to play Medic properly.
Imagine if they do unlockables for Engineers, is the whole server going to go Defense?

Medic was my most played class until this update came but now I have no reason to go Medic anymore. how ironic.

My brother and I are going to use the 'free weekend' to make one or two alt steam accounts to run on other computers with a private server to aid in achievement unlocking . Exploiting the system ftw.

Naughty naughty...though I would think a packed, public, achievement unlocking server would work better...

So out of curiosity what is "Free" about the deal? Do you normally pay to play TF2? I thought steam and it's severs were free ^^;

No the game is free to play. You just have to buy the game first. The purpose of the free weekend is for those who don't have the game and are interested in it, can download it and play it for the weekend. As soon as the weekend is over you can't use it anymore. I did the free weekend for The Ship a year or so back and it was awesome.  I never bought the game though.

No, the game costs $30. You can't just play every game in existence for free, silly.

From May 2-4, you can play the full TF2 game, completely free.

edit:  I bought The Ship when it came out.  It seemed like such a cool concept.  But after playing it for a day I realized how broken the game really was.  You're supposed to murder another player on a cruise ship while running away from  someone sent to murder you.  The problem is that everyone ends up on the same floor, same room, and stalemating because the security cameras are watching.
