Forums - Gaming - Is GTA IV being hailed because its not Nintendo

lol this thread is funny.

Offcourse the game got elevated scores cause it is a GTA game. it is something people grew up with so the next one in the series with some major changes makes people happy.

same thing happens with a mario game or a zelda game.

If anything, the Mario Kart scores are a knock against the Wii.

EDIT: Repeat, if.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Haven't played GTAIV so I don't know if it deserves such high score but I did play SSBB and SMG on Wii and I don't think they deserved such high scores. So, I think the opposite is true: games on Wii are hailed because it is Nintendo.

Fully deserves those scores.

It IS the best game ever. Everything about it is almost perfection.

MGS4!

like picko already said, the world doesnt revolve around the Wii.
It may sell like crazy, but the HD consoles is where the games are at.
All good games on the Wii are sequels from the GC, yet they are much more hyped and get better reviews while doing abosuletely nothing new.
I remember super smash brother on the n64 and gc got reviews all around 85-90, yet the ssbb gets alot higher reviews while doing nothing new.

5 of the best games on Nintendo Wii. I disagree. SMG alone can go head to head with GTA IV. I am not saying it will win or lose but it has a chance to compete. The game can compete. But guess what, they are not on the same genre. TO have a fair game, let's ask Nintendo and Take Two to do a GTA type game on a neutral platform. Let say PC.

Wii Code: 4819-7684-2396-4558

I m not going to give u evidence because I dont have any.

BUT

Yes, I believe that review website are supporting GTA4 partially because it is more mature games that completely correspond to what they want to play (website are ran by 25-40 years old male gamers).
Since, GTA4 is not on Wii AND since Wii is getting a lot of hype with casual products (Wiifit), hardcore mature gamers are pushing GTA4.

Overall, I dont care of gameranking since, for me, SMG doesn't deserve the top1 place (dont care of Mario, no story)

==> I also agree on this point.

Any top game that is not on a Nintendo platform should be praised highly. It is like thank god the PS3 and 360 gamers get a great game to play.

Obviously the game can't earn these scores on its own merit. Chalk this one up to the Wii Conspiracy Theories.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S.
