Forums - Nintendo - How do Wii-only owners feel about GTA4?

Games like MGS4 and RE5 I actually find interest in. Games like GTAIV hold really no interest for me. Honestly I don't think I've ever seen such a popular game that so few people actually cared about playing on this forum. Everyone seems more interested in turning the game into a bargaining chip in the pissing contest of what's better, the PS3 or 360. As Tycho from Penny Arcade Put it, things haven't been this bad since the days of the SNES and Genesis.

Either way, all three titles afore mentioned disgust me in how far these developers have had to push themselves (often to the point of financial jepardy) just to make a HD sequel that doesn't cut corners or has a play time of five to ten hours... Just to make a game that could have been made last gen in 1/3rd the time and at 1/5th the cost.

If developers have to invest this much risk, this much time and this much financial revenue into just one game (surprise surprise a sequel no less) just to make a game that can truly be called AAA on an HD console... What the hell is the point.

Things haven't been this bad because Sony dominated the previous 2 generations and no console is going to do that this generation. The point is advancing videogames. Why would you not want developers to push the envelope and advance the hobby? The most expensive game ever made is going to be the most profitable, so I don't really see the problem.

Tell that to Sega who spend $70 million on Shenmue.

Jealous :(
I'm a rare breed though.

Most Wii only owners wouldn't even touch a game that doesn't have a Nintendo label on it.
If only they knew what they're missing.

@ Onimusha

You don't want the industry to move forward? :3

One can't blame a company for wanting to be competitive. The bar has been raised since last gen and I'm sure Rockstar employees had a blast designing a game this grand and expensive. Its exciting for companies to do this as it shows the huge industry growth...

And Its not like the fruits of their labour did not come through. I don't see any game this year being as complete as this one. Gears of War will be a great action shooter game. MGS4 will be a good stealth action game. Burnout is a good driving game. This one does everything! and does it well.

You can duck and hide from cops...you can go online and race with friends...you can grab a gun and have gunfights... there is a chainsaw (gears of war style). There has never been a game for 60 bucks that offers this much...and there probably won't be another one until GTA5 comes out.

I'm very late to the thread, but as a wii only owner, it makes me want a 360.. because i now finally have a third "For-now" exclusive that i want on it (the other two are Fable 2, BK3).. that said.. i'm more than happy to wait for the pc version of both F2 and GTA4.. they'll be better anyways

In answer to the original post = It makes me feel kind of the same way Mass Effect, Dead Rising, Viva Pinata, Warhawk, Fallout 3 and Fable 2 does; like I'd like to one day get those systems to play those games.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Its sad so many of you responded to my post by thinking I don't want the industry to move forward, how sad.

I want the industry to move forward too, but there is a difference between moving forward as part of a progression and moving forward inspite of current logistical and economical limitations. These graphics and console specs will be cheap and affordable in a couple years, why you couldn't have waited till then for the industry to move forward without experiencing such a worrisome forced growth spurt is beyond me.

Just because an industry is pressured to move forward does not mean it needs to move forward nor that it was meant to move forward in that way at that time. You people have gotten in the bad habbit of assuming, "because Sony and MS did what they did, then that obviously means that this had to be the real next step forward or why else would they have done it." Pay no mind to the fact that their consoles this generation were twice the price of last generation's consoles". Pay no mind to the fact that both were led down this path by their own self chosen technological arms race of power and over-engineering in console gaming the likes of which such a jump has never been seen between two generations before.

Pay no mind to the fact that the gaming industry hasn't progressed as a result of the 360 or PS3, but rather been forced to keep pace. There is a difference.

Ohh, I get it - so GTA is basically a violent SIMs game, like basically it takes parts from other games that are mainstream... that would explain the sales...

10/10 overall no but 10/10 fun factor yes; for those who enjoy that kind of stuff.

But that would explain my dizzyness and upset stomach when I play GTA... I get the same feeling from SIMs.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.
