Yeah, but ever since Sega stopped making hardware, their Sonic franchise just sucked.

The Dreamcast only lived for about 4-5 months outside of Japan, and has sold almost half as much as the Xbox, which lived for more than 4 years, and the Gamecube, which lived for more than 5 years, the Dreamcast has done better. Therefore, if you extend the life of the Dreamcast to 4 years, it would have outsold the Xbox, and 5 years, it would have outsold the Gamecube. However, that is only if the Dreamcast could have sold as much as it did before it failed. After the Playstation 2, the Dreamcast sales have slowed down. But, if Sega never stopped the production of the Dreamcast, would it have had a chance to take down the Gamecube, and Xbox? |
I wish they didnt fail but as I understand it they simply ran out of money. They were taking losses and unlike Nintendo and Sony, they had a very little to no headroom to play with. If they had deeper pockets they probably would have survived and I believe they would have sold in the same neighborhoods as Nintendo and MS. I do believe that MS should have bought them out since they already had a good fanbase worldwide. It would have made it much easier for them to break into Japan that is for sure.

Also, EA didn't support the Dreamcast AT ALL, which was another nail in that coffin. Then, it was the easiest pirated system on the face of the planet. No modifications, just burn and play. So, I'm unsure of how it would've done if it stayed in the race. I think the system would've been made completely different. No EA support is telling though. |
Funny how I've never purchased a game made by EA. I hate sports games. I would rather play sports in real life. They devalue so fast, look incredibly ugly when you find them used in a game store, litter the game stores, and video game libraries. Why are there 100 different hockey games for the PS2? We only need one!
Too bad for the Dreamcast. Sonic Adventure is the top selling game for the Dreamcast, at 2.5 million. It's the only game I have for the Dreamcast. Best Sonic game, by the way!

And all of those games litter the video game stores. You can find them in cheap, plastic bins, with price tags of $0.99. Their labels are torn, there's food stains, and dirt everywhere, there's a name or two, written with black ink, they're scratched, and look like a pile of crap. Nothing worse than going to a video game store, looking for famous games like Metal Gear, Halo, Final Fantasy, or Mario, and finding nothing but disgusting, horrible, ugly, dirty, cheap sports games. DAMN THOSE SPORTS GAMES!!! I'd rather play sports in real life. You shoot red turtles in reality. You can't run at 100 MPH like Sonic in reality. You can't smash crates like Crash in reality. You can't fight monsters with swords like Link in reality. You can't, or at least, shouldn't shoot people like Snake in reality. But yes, you can play Soccer, Hockey, or Basketball in reality. And every single Soccer, Hockey, or Basketball game is the same. Okay, maybe at least one of each sports game, but not 50 football games for one system!

I hate Sonic 3D Blast. I hate Sonic Spinball. I hate Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. I hate Sonic Shuffe. I hate Sonic Heroes. I hate Shadow the Hedgehog. I hate Sonic the Hedgehog. I hate Sonic and the Secret Rings.
I hate Crash Bash. I hate Wrath of Cortex. I hate Twinsanity. I hate Nitro Kart. I hate Tag Team Racing. I hate Boom Bang. I hate Crash of the Titans.
I partially agree with your disinterest in Sonic, and Crash, but nobody insults Sonic 1, 2, 3, Adventure, and Crash 1, 2, 3, and gets away with it!
If Dreamcast never failed, we may have had much better Sonic games!

I assume our escheme date launch in market, imagine that WII is launched in nov2006 in Japan an after launches in North America and Europe in Sep of 2007. Dreamcast has no DVD so isn't more than a Gamecube or a WII or a PS1 whit better graphics.
Yeah, but at least the Dreamcast could play CDs!!! I mean, the Wii cannot play CDs... WTF? The Sega CD could play CDs, and about 14 years old!
