My guess would be never. Even though the PS3 is catching up, I think that the generation will be over once the PS3 gets close to the xbox360.

5 000 000 isn't enormous... but if MS cut the price in usa in summer or before the end of the year, that will in 2011 or never, usa is the biggest market, ps3 can't catch 360 in this area... japan, france , sapain an germany aren't perhaps enought  to cath 360 WW. Anyway 2010 will pass by and the 360 will still be a ahead of the PS3 in sales by 3 million units or whatever. So maybe 2011 or 2012 the PS3 will finally overtake the 360 in ww sales when it does not really matter any more. The 360 software sales lead over the PS3 will never be over hauled this generation

I love the "when Sony wins, it won't matter anymore for me" damage control stance. It reminds me of my first years in school when I was 5. "Ok you win bu bu but... it doesn't matter then."

Losing is losing. In 2 years, when 360 clearly has a smaller installed base than the PS3, well, it will be a fact and MS will be called a loser as it should. No way to spin that.

For some people here, to be considered a winner with the PS3, Sony would need to overcome a full year head start without competition in only 4 years of sales (versus 5 for its competitor, 25 % more time, nice challenge), versus a much cheaper competitor ? Okaaaaaay, I guess it's really fair. Still, it's possible they'll do it somehow. Oh the irony.

If the 360 can manage to be even in userbase come 2011 (and that's writing Natal off completely) it really WON'T matter to anyone but fanboys. The userbases will be big and equal enough for the Xbox to still get all the multiplats it's getting now.

The gap is around 5 mln. or atleast will be soon enough.

That is 50 weeks in which ps3 must outsell x360 every week by around 100k.
Since PS3 pricecut this wasn`t a problem.

PS3 in 2010 is getting GT5, FFXIII, GOW3 and some other(HR, MAG, TLG, AGENT, FFXIV) games, which will move some PS3 HW.

I think, Gran Turismo 5 will be a really big or huge system seller. In this case, IF Microsoft won`t cut price or do something to significantly increase x360 sales, PS3 will overtake x360 LTD sales before release of Natal.
