Absolutely, positively, NEVER! Simply because there's no way PS3 is going to overtake the 360 this gen in North America... this is the most fierce competition Sony has had since the launch of the original PlayStation here in the States, and the botched launch continues to hurt the PS3 to this day. With the Wii dominating across the board, and the 360 having a strong foothold in the HD/core gaming market, Sony has lost what was just a few short years ago their biggest market.

In Europe/Others, the PS3 and 360 are pretty much dead even, so the only possible hope for Sony is if it were to do some huge numbers in Japan, but with the exception of FFXIII, there really isn't any huge titles coming out in the near future that would make the Japanese market flock to Sony's console.

Their best bet is to just keep on keeping on until the PS3 itself becomes a profitable console, and then they can concentrate on their next system, if there is a next system by Sony.

From the moment MS entered the console market this is correct,

you can complete the list by adding Atari, Sega, Philips, intellivison, PC engine etcetera

They play one of the most defensive football there is and they are successful at it, i.e. they win games and tournaments. If they wouldn't win, it wouldn't bother me as much.

I don't doubt that you would catch that bullet before me. If I knew that a Milan fan would die, I surely wouldn't do anything to prevent it. Nintendo being saved would be a nice bonus.

But but you said you liked me even though I am a Milan fan, were you lying to a poor soul?

PS. I would catch it with my teeth and spit it back they way it went at the same speed it came, thats something we Milan fans learn at a young age.

Edit: They have always had a strong defense its their strongest card on the field but they havent always played as boring as they have done lately, in the eigtees and the 1990 world cup they were playing absolutly marvelous footbal (soccer) and thats what i am expecting from them every time.

I worked in marketing, sales in themselves aren't that meaningful if you don't look at the price you sell things. Of course 149 $ consoles sell a lot, obviously...

But profit is, and microsoft are doing that plus gaining marketshare ... Sony are failing at both ...

profit is relative, when u  are 7 billlion in the hole and u got around  450,000 million in a quarter and lost 36 million in the next one even if zune sales and live services back up yours. you are still more than 6 billion in the hole.

 ps3 haven't sold market share for a while actually it regained marketshare with 360 selling more.

sony was doing profits as a whole before the recession, the gaming division wasn't, now hit them due yen getting stronger.

That's not the way corporations and investors look at it.  If you're currently making a profit, and expect to continue making a profit going forward then nobody cares how much money you may have lost in the past, you just keep doing business.
